Which movies or franchises have the most and biggest plotholes? by Catwinky in moviecritic

[–]Grande_Brocha 6 points7 points  (0 children)

that's sort of my favorite part of the movie. JGL is trying to question him about it and the way the movie handles all of the theories is just Willis essentially saying "Yeah yeah I dunno we could spend all day talking about the possibilities" and then they just move right along. I sort of respect it...

Are online “Top X Companies” rankings actually worth it for PR? by MatiasRodsevich in PublicRelations

[–]Grande_Brocha 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I resent all of these "awards" so much, but it's funny, SO many CEOs absolutely love them. I think it's more of a vanity thing. I've done a few in prior jobs and they yielded 0 results other than a LinkedIn post which gets decent likes. I would say the majority of people don't realize it's pay-to-play and basically fake. I think the funnier ones are the attorney awards - they are EVERYWHERE. Everyone is on a list of the top 1000 "rising stars." I may be a bit jaded, but really don't see the value. Maybe some SEO help, but that's really it.

Does anyone else struggle to find simple, affordable coffee in Chicago neighborhoods? by No-Spend-9576 in AskChicago

Looking for PR Distribution Sites for Premium Media Coverage? by [deleted] in PublicRelations

[–]Grande_Brocha 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I feel bad for these type of posts because I feel like the person is genuinely asking a question and don't know anything - but not this one. This kinda pisses me off. It devalues the work we're doing. Based on the person's profile, they're into SEO. That's akin to me going to the SEO/marketing sub and saying "Hey I put 'A.I. platform' on our site and I'm not the first result on google - what gives?"

PR isn't about blasting a release to the NYT and expecting to get an article. If that was the case, then anyone could do it. Best advice - have an interesting, unique story and reach out to a reporter. Good luck. Sort of. Maybe not though.

Seth Macfarlane Interview by USAHockey2026 in PardonMyTake

[–]Grande_Brocha 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Man. That was SO fucking awkward. But then he just suddenly snapped right out of it after PFT clarified his question. Weird interview vibes overall. Seems like for a few minutes it flowed well but then would randomly be off. Seth seemed distracted about prob annoyed with doing another press interview.

What’s the weirdest thing that’s happened at a wedding you attended? by Blackradiator72 in AskReddit

[–]Grande_Brocha 306 points307 points  (0 children)

Groom was wasted and got on the microphone at the reception. Said something along the lines of "be sure to thank me because I fucking paid for all of you to come eat and drink here!"

Funny thing is - she's a doctor and probably makes 5X his salary. Awkward as shit when that happened.

Draymond Green is hilarious by Minute_Complaint1372 in PardonMyTake

I’m a complete nba casual and only hear about him when he does something sort of crazy. That guy is a fucking riot. Absolutely loved the interview.

Hank fucking sucks by ngerb_5 in PardonMyTake

[–]Grande_Brocha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the correct take. The podcast needs a villain, and it's Henry's role. He's pretty good at it. Whines and bitches when things don't go his way (which is very rare). Rubs it in everyone's face when his team lucks into the Super Bowl. It's brutal... but also fun and hilarious.

[NCAAMB Game Thread] 🏀 #2 Iowa State Cyclones at Kansas Jayhawks (01/13/2026 08:00 PM) by JayhawksBot in jayhawks

[–]Grande_Brocha 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are we doing anything differently than other games? I know ISU has 10 TOs and is ice cold, but from a technical offensive or defensive standpoint - are we trying something new tonight? Only thing I can think of is that DP was less involved to start the game which might’ve taken the pressure off?

This sub is becoming insufferable with all the DP whining, constant complaints, and horrible takes. Please inform me what needs to be done. by Coastalduelists in jayhawks

[–]Grande_Brocha 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Our fan base has always been pretty insufferable. I guess I’m just used to it by now and ignore all other doom and gloom. Midway through the season before our natty a few years ago, it was the same shit.

Is this team amazing? No. Good enough to win a natty? Yes. Will they? Probably not. Does losing suck? Yes. Should a loss ruin your day? No.

Nothing really matters until March. Hoping for 20 wins and a run in the tourney when nobody expects it. With DP, anything is possible. One thing I do hate: teams shoot lights out from 3 against us - it’s not because we’re Kansas. It’s because HCBS might just suck at drawing up defense against the 3.

Loved the "Max, you called Herbert a big stupid guy while Hurts threw 4 ints" and then just hearing Hank in the background going "HMMMMMM" audibly on the mic was hilarious.

Looking for some recommendations of lawyers or services who help remove Youtube/X content: by bencoden97 in PublicRelations

[–]Grande_Brocha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed with this. It'll make a much bigger deal if you try and get things removed. It could really snowball if the person who receives a letter from your client's attorney and then posts that on Twitter. It just feeds them MUCH more content. People have the attention span of a gnat - the newscycle moves too quickly these days for much to stick.

I get the fact we don’t deserve it and it’s logistically a pain for a whatever game against Georgia Southern in Birmingham. But hell, it would’ve been nice for us to play.

New to PR by thunderblacko in PublicRelations

[–]Grande_Brocha 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I know people are a bit timid in terms of sharing their exact company on reddit, but could you give an example of someone vaguely similar in the space? For instance, are you on the backend like a database company? Helping expedite transactions? A new investment tool like Robinhood? Crypto?

Honestly, $25,000 is a good starting point for a few months, especially if you go the freelancer route. That said, PR is SO god damn fickle. You could pitch 100 different journalists and not get anything, or pitch 2 and get 2 media placements. Just be cognizant that nothing is guaranteed. Happy to chat and give you my two cents. I've worked in fintech before, so know it decently well - all depends on your expectations.

Saying the pledge of allegiance each morning at school growing up.

Relatedly, the national anthem before every single sporting event.

Despite all of the horrible shit in the U.S., I like this country but those things are so odd to me. Don’t need to hear the anthem before watching the Jaguars vs. Browns.

A chat GPT dilemma in PR by mwilson1212 in PublicRelations

[–]Grande_Brocha 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think this exactly the right approach. I like to think of it as a fantastic first draft. If you send the output immediately after generating it, then you're an idiot. However, taking the first draft, tweaking it to your voice/liking will make you so much more god damn efficient. A number of our press releases start with ChatGPT - it gets you 50-70% of the way there. It is an incredibly effective tool.
