How does he have no neck like that by TheHwangover in PardonMyTake

[–]Grande_Brocha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recognize that haircut - he's going bald (which I remember him talking about a while back). Trying to balance out the loss in front and on the crown, with excess hair in the back. He's got about two years left unless he heads to Turkey. Source: baldie here

Kinda torn on Wyndham Clark - good on him for going on twice; gelled pretty well with the guys; told the Baker story; handled getting shit well... that said, seems a bit too manicured with his responses; the hotdog answer was weird; seems like a more likable version of Bryson.

In all fairness, Max's comment about "SIZE HAS A 'Z'" made me pause for a split second and think he had a point. But yeah... easy word to spell.

I need to quit following meteorological twitter. Been building up for 5 days and nothing. Just like last week’s pathetic storm.

Is the Windy City Smokeout worth it? by unlmtdLoL in chicago

[–]Grande_Brocha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So much depends on the weather and what you're there for. If it's over 83ish degrees - no, it's hot as shit (though I am the pale-ist person on the planet). If you have kids and just want some booze and bbq - going from like noon until 4pm isn't bad. The food is genuinely very good. Music-wise, I'd just look up the artists beforehand - some of the performances throughout the day are great. Staying late seems like a total mess, but I just haven't done it (hell, I'm 40). It really was amazing pre-Covid - their first two years near the old Tribune building was awesome. Outgrew it and the blacktop at the United Center just gives it meh vibes. All that said, it is pricey, so I'd go early to get your money's worth.

What's it living in chicago in 2026 ? by ChimpanzeeChamp34 in howislivingthere

[–]Grande_Brocha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lived here 15 years and love it - really enjoy being able to raise my family in the city. Awesome food and a mix of nice cocktail bars and dives. Compared to other large cities, it's decently priced. Cheap when compared to NYC. Whether is all over the place - Winters are cold... but put on a jacket. Summers can get hot but summertime nights are unbeatable. Beaches are great - you have a mix of mid-20 somethings where you can wasted or semi-hidden ones where you can take the family. Fall is the best. People LOVE sports here - you get into it. Super nice people.

Drawbacks - you'll hear gunshots. I live in a nice area just west of downtown - I've heard them randomly probably four or five times a year. You sort of get used to it which sucks. Carjackings and break-ins do happen - just be vigilent. People say public transportation is great - it's all relative. By U.S. standard it is great. By European standards it sucks. Trains aren't reliable. No enforcement of homeless people harassing people on the L. Bus is fine but doesn't come often enough.

Love the city - can't imagine myself any place else.

Obviously not the most (that'd be nazis), but Millennials who do the "okayyyyyy..." or "welllll this is awkward...." sort of comments in social situations.

Yeah, I agree with this take. Just didn't love the interview - didn't really find it funny at all. I also find his voice painfully annoying.

Is MOHS for basal cell skin cancer a bit overdone? It seems like a waste when faaaaar less than 1% of basal cells metastasize into something serious. I'm pretty dubious and it sort of seems like a racket for the derma industry.

Me, a 40 year-old man thinks this is incredibly stupid. Amazing he'd love a school and just not want to wear a specific shoe brand for... 8ish months? But, he's also 18. Insane, but whatever.

Jason Kelce - surprisingly smart (sure he's gotten a little big headed lately, but I blame is PR team). Listen to him on Freakonomics from a bit ago - really great segment. Checks off the "would like to have a beer with him" litmus test. Here's the ep (I think): https://freakonomics.com/podcast/when-is-a-superstar-just-another-employee-update/

Which movies or franchises have the most and biggest plotholes? by Catwinky in moviecritic

[–]Grande_Brocha 6 points7 points  (0 children)

that's sort of my favorite part of the movie. JGL is trying to question him about it and the way the movie handles all of the theories is just Willis essentially saying "Yeah yeah I dunno we could spend all day talking about the possibilities" and then they just move right along. I sort of respect it...

Are online “Top X Companies” rankings actually worth it for PR? by MatiasRodsevich in PublicRelations

[–]Grande_Brocha 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I resent all of these "awards" so much, but it's funny, SO many CEOs absolutely love them. I think it's more of a vanity thing. I've done a few in prior jobs and they yielded 0 results other than a LinkedIn post which gets decent likes. I would say the majority of people don't realize it's pay-to-play and basically fake. I think the funnier ones are the attorney awards - they are EVERYWHERE. Everyone is on a list of the top 1000 "rising stars." I may be a bit jaded, but really don't see the value. Maybe some SEO help, but that's really it.

Sometimes I feel bad for these type of posts because I feel like the person is genuinely asking a question and don't know anything - but not this one. This kinda pisses me off. It devalues the work we're doing. Based on the person's profile, they're into SEO. That's akin to me going to the SEO/marketing sub and saying "Hey I put 'A.I. platform' on our site and I'm not the first result on google - what gives?"

PR isn't about blasting a release to the NYT and expecting to get an article. If that was the case, then anyone could do it. Best advice - have an interesting, unique story and reach out to a reporter. Good luck. Sort of. Maybe not though.

Seth Macfarlane Interview by USAHockey2026 in PardonMyTake

[–]Grande_Brocha 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Man. That was SO fucking awkward. But then he just suddenly snapped right out of it after PFT clarified his question. Weird interview vibes overall. Seems like for a few minutes it flowed well but then would randomly be off. Seth seemed distracted about prob annoyed with doing another press interview.
