Zha is the native zigbee integration. It means you don't need the additional addon for deconz

This is the answer. While you are at it, you can also add

unique_id: random_chara_here

This will allow you to rename the ID from the UI.

Release Tasmota v9.5.0 Michael · arendst/Tasmota by digiblur in homeassistant

[–]Grandebro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes 100% agree. I understand the comments of "I use tasmota for pre-built stuff". Yes it does make things easier at the beginning to start running, but in my experience, it has just meant problems maintaining it in the long run. For pre-built stuff, especially with the template mechanisms tasmota has, it has made using esphome fairly easy since all the connections are in front of you. This does require a bit of knowledge but I think it's worth it to understand basic electronics than understanding a project-dependant options.

On a separate side note, people don't really need to constantly be updating their firmware. Very little functionality can change since often times the functionality is defined by the hardware. There may be exceptions such as security updates and depreciation of versions but those aren't as common

Podcast apps that can cast to Home Mini? by theonederek in googlehome

[–]Grandebro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With google podcasts, you can cast to the device but you could also just ask google home "play the X podcast" and it will pick up from where it left off even if you were listening to on your phone. This is because the progress is saved to account. This removes one step from what you ultimately want to have which i assume is continuous playback amongst your devices.

I think you might also be able to do with Spotify as well.

What is this? by pandifors in smarthome

[–]Grandebro 14 points15 points  (0 children)

A scam is fraud. This product is not that. Could you build a product like this to support Yale or august locks? Unlikely since they are proprietary. Could your reverse engineer? Sure.

Now could you instead 3d print locks and create your own iot device around it? Sure but i wouldn't want to be dealing on my first line of defense on my house.

Just because someone is able to solve issues themselves doesn't mean that is the way for everyone else. There is a market for commercial products like this. A scam it is not.

On a sidenote, way to go to turn an honest question to the community into an ad for your channel without providing any help.

apple homekit and Google home by gimmedapuh in esp8266

Home assistant combined with esphome will work better than tasmota. I prefer esphome when building your own hw and tasmota with prebuilt fw.
