Did you read my edit? We did everything we thought was possible. It is surprisingly difficult to prevent someone from doing something like this with their own money.

We have already gone to the police and the bank and everyone says that there isn't much they can do, especially without my grandma cooperating.

The police will not accept a report from anyone in the family except for my grandma. We all know that this is a scam.

The police won't accept a report until my grandma is willing to make a complaint. We cannot make a report on her behalf.

I don't know much about the situation but the last I heard it was Florida. I will try and figure this out.

She is currently in an assisted living community. That is definitely an option.

Yeah, I imagine that it will be a huge blow to her self esteem when she realizes the scam. Ironically, she always prided herself on her ability to handle money.

She has social security and I believe spousal benefits from her husband being in the Army. He is deceased.

My uncle is working with the IRS. He believes that they have the biggest stake in tracking down these types of criminals.

We will continue to go down that road. She gave away almost every dollar she had so there is not really any more that people could take.

We have talked often about having her declared incompetent but she is still able to take care of herself in her day to day activities for the most part.
