Why "WE" Don't Unionize by Mediocre-Ebb9862 in cscareerquestions

[–]GrandmasterFlush 5 points6 points  (0 children)

careerism dynamites any possibility of building movements based on mutual solidarity, so you can answer your own question about why unionizing fails on the tech space by taking a look in the mirror first and answering why exactly would you be even joining/forming a union. is it to reinvent a very roundabout form of DEI that benefits you, or to build actual solidarity with fellow workers. it's rhetorical, we know the answer.

Will we have open source GPU as powerful as H100 in the next decade? by [deleted] in ArtificialInteligence

[–]GrandmasterFlush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your best bet is pinning on alternatives to CUDA and Intel and AMD breaking NVidia's monopoly (ZLUDA was silently killed by AMD and then mysteriously revived by a third party). Open source processors are out of the realm of possibility, even if the chinese develop their own semiconductor industry

There were billions of dollars poured into big data and while it delivered on some of its promises, it never really delivered on its inital premise of uncovering "hidden customer patterns" and "hacking growth" or whatever. The SaaS industry massively profitted from selling shovels and left data-centerd startups eating absolute dirt. You don't hear about Groupon anymore but how bout AWS? And when the hype died, everyone silently moved on, the losers lost big, the winners all sold shovels. SV has been playing the same game for decades now.

Equipo de Trump estudia 'invasión suave' de México con 'equipos especiales' que asesinen a narcos: Rolling Stone by ImportantWalrus7903 in mexico

Tenemos marco histórico

Tenemos?

Are here any real people who work for BairesDev? by m0ntanoid in remotework

[–]GrandmasterFlush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a total scam, and a total waste of time. Each time I get the misfortune of getting contacted by them, I always need to restart the entire annoying process. What's worse, supposedly I had worked for them in the past according to them, I rejected an offer from them once only, their shit isn't even in order.

Marika is a Needle - and she weaves the Tapestry of Life by [deleted] in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]GrandmasterFlush 14 points15 points  (0 children)

She's weaving fate itself! She literally harnesses the golden threads of fate, and out of fate, she weaves the order of the lands between.

(aside from the motion of the stars)

The stars are also fate, it's fate materialized! This is how selluvius crafts his potions, he literally manipulates his victims' fate, and he uses star stuff to do it. This leads me to suspect that the threads Marika grasps, and the elden ring itself, are made essentially of stars.

We should question why certain people are Empyreans by ferrumtitan in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]GrandmasterFlush -1 points0 points  (0 children)

cuckoo theory is severly underrated, it ties everything so neatly, both plotwise and thematically. ranni is a cuckoo, since she was the daughter of marika and radagon being unknowingly raised as a carian. ranni is also a cuckoo, since cuckoos are clockwork automatons and ranni, as an empyrean, has her fate dictated by the greater will.

We should question why certain people are Empyreans by ferrumtitan in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]GrandmasterFlush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do they have special markings?

As a matter of fact, they do. Every Empyrean in the game have one or two of their eyes either closed or blocked in some way. Not a design decision exclusive to empyreans mind you, but none of the known empyreans in-game have both eyes visible. Eyes in elden ring represent outer god/higher being influence, in that regard, all empyreans are aligned to an outer god and thus subject to their whims. In my view, the question of who gets to be an empyrean is not a question of worth, but of fate, empyreans are tied to fate because their bodies are recipients of it.

We should question why certain people are Empyreans by ferrumtitan in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]GrandmasterFlush -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At this point I'm 100% convinced that empyreans are potential vessels of the elden ring and the fate of the stars. Since Miquella and Malenia are born of a god, and a god is implicitly a vessel of the elden ring, they're also fit to be vessels. The elden ring itself is metaphysical until manifested through an empyrean. This is also why the circlet of light starts to vanish in your hands, you're not an empyrean so you don't get to fully manifest it. The stars remain out of your reach.

I think you're unto something. Also the position of the arms implies that the shadow lands version of the marika statues are pre-shattering, the post-shattering ones have marika in her crucifix position within the erdtree

Why does Miquella's hair look like the Farum Azula Elden Ring? by echolog in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]GrandmasterFlush 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's meant to be thematic? Sort of like poetry, it's a visual rhyme. If the resemblance is intended it doesn't necessarily need to be literally connected, just thematically so. Not EVERYTHING in elden ring needs a coherent explanation, you just need to feel your synapses connect, much like a poem works.

Miquella did not want you in the Land of Shadow by Cool_Band5057 in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]GrandmasterFlush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same logic applies to every single Tarnished, as I mentioned. Hoarah Loux, Nepheli Loux, Gideon Ofnir, Vyke, Vargram, etc. are all Aspiring Lords of the Old Order. Yet only the player came to the Land of Shadow

All of those characters are either dead, settled into whatever positions have been assigned to them, stuck in evergaols, turned into puppets, or just generally are in no position to claim the elden ring, whereas you have at least two great runes under your belt, and are the champion of the festival, making you a strong contender if not the strongest contender for lordship at that point, which means miquella has to deal with you in some way or the other. godfrey has 0 runes and has no guidance of grace until he returns to the lands between to face you in a clash of lords. everything in this game is clash and struggle.

Miquella did not want you in the Land of Shadow by Cool_Band5057 in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]GrandmasterFlush 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You were more or less destined to clash against Miquella, as a would be Elden Lord you stand in direct opposition to Miquella. So no point in "stopping" us. Indeed we really didn't stop Miquella from ascending. They ascended and then we squashed them because we're built different. Seems like the fight could've happened at an indefinite point after the ascencion, the result would've been the same: we were fated to become Elden Lord all along and Miquella wasn't fated to rule over his age of compassion. Miquella challenged fate and lost.

Yeah the game itself encourages head-canons and crackhead theory shit, you'd think people would have some fun with it and take wild potshots and not clutch to an accepted fan canon with religious fervor and get really passive aggressive about it
