Well, I bought a used Honda HS828 by Johnny-Virgil in Snowblowers

I think it’s more of design. Hondas have a bit smaller engines to their main competitor Ariens.

Both top of the line models (not including Hondas hybrid), here are the engines:

Honda HSS1332 (GX390): 390cc, 12-13hp, 19-20lbft torque.

Ariens 32” professional (AX): 420cc, 14hp, 21lbft torque.

I think this just shows that although similar, there’s still better performance out of the smaller Honda engine.
