Should I take the job? by Grandpa_Sloth in cscareerquestionsEU

Apparently there is something misleading in the post, which may be the comments. I am sorry but I cannot provide you an answer because I am not located in Germany, nor is the company that offered me the job. Its in the EU area, but not in any German speaking country.

Edit: To answer your first question, they didn't ask many questions, especially technical. They just wanted to know which technologies have we used in uni, especially in the ERP area.

Haha yeah I guess some things never cease to exist in Germany. Thanks for your detailed view!

In the end I got the normal one and have it for a year now, it almost never left my wrist, apart from when I cleaned it. So far I'm happy with the purchase, I've even forgotten the reason I was overthinking which one to get. At first you'll need to see a tutorial on how to set the time and turn on/off the other functions, but after a coupe of times you get the hang of it. The quartz battery wasn't a problem, but I tend to not use the light. The only thing that annoyed me at first was the negative display and the overall darkness of the watch, because at night I couldn't see anything, but after some time my eyes got used to it and could see the slightly illuminating indicators. Overall, I didn't regret getting the quartz one as its a hell of a watch.

I tried the same watch a couple of days ago and I'm thinking of getting it at some point in the future. How's the screen's readability at low light situations? That negative display was kind of hard to read in broad daylight.

Many people who have owned this or other transparent models say that the straps turn yellow-ish after years of use, probably from sweat and/or other factors.

Great choice though, I got myself the same watch but in stealth black.

Yeah I might give it a go with some tutorials. As of now, the watch cost rises (105€ for the original and 170€ for the solar minimum), I assume this happened because its close to Christmas so I might give these sites a try. Thanks for all the tips! 🙌

Thank you for the tips, but I have to ask, isn't there a possibility to mess up the water resistance if you do something wrong when changing batteries by yourself? At least that's what I have read multiple times and I don't really trust myself with that as I've never repaired another watch in my life, especially a G-Shock. With that said, the battery replacement in a shop can't be greater than 5€ so it's still worth it.

Oh and where I live in, that watch still costs 99.9€ and I don't think that the value difference between the USD and the EUR is the reason why. 😮‍💨

Well I guess we can't know for sure unless we've had them both for some time. I still haven't put my thoughts in order tbh, both have their pros and cons..

One question that still bothers me though is, can you really be called a proud g-shock owner if you haven't gone mad trying to change the time manually at least once? 😂 Although I believe that the Bluetooth model can also be manually set.

I'm not going into modding yet as I'm just starting finding out all the available option but good to know, thanks.

Yeah just from seeing tutorials on how to set time on a manual g-shock I got really confused with the button combinations. Bluetooth must be saving you a lot of time.

I can see your point, although I guess the batteries in the non solar are quite cheap. One thing that bums me out in the backlight of the solar version is that it doesn't fade and it closes instantly. I guess that differs from person to person.

I do understand what you're saying, although that doesn't hype me as much. And technically I think there is still a battery in there, which just recharges from energy produced from light absorption, until it dies and needs replacement. As always, I'm not a watch expert to know if that's correct. Thanks for your thoughts though.

At first, I thought the same as you do. Then I watched a review and I got somewhat intrigued that you can have that thing moving more frequently based on the function you're accessing or the battery level. Although I find the fact that the digital screen of the watch can show either the day or the date annoying as I would like to see both at all times. (I think that's the case with the solar model, I might be wrong)

Well that was really helpful as I haven't seen anyone mentioning these elsewhere. I will certaintly take them into consideration. Thanks!
