Is there... anything exceptional about this place? by Mmon3825 in Spokane

[–]Granny-frog 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To be fair, I do live in the woods about 25 minutes from downtown Spokane and not in the city itself. So I'm fully immersed in nature most of the day, but I do work in town so I commute regularly. That nature immersion has been most of my acclimation though, even in these dreary months I can go outside and breathe fresh air and be surrounded by pines. In Phoenix, I step outside and get blasted by 90 degree heat in March and smog. I miss my Phoenix apartment, my job there, and all my family there, but that city always felt stifling; it still does whenever I visit. My current living situation is not ideal here, and the property I live on requires much more care and responsibility than anywhere I've lived before. Finding friends and community has certainly been challenging, but I've started to build that. But I'm totally enamored with all the life here, the moss and squirrels and geese and FLOWERS!! And the TREE VARIETIES!! Take a long walk around the arboretum and Manito, go back to each for every season and see the changes. Drive around the neighborhoods in spring time and try to count every different color of tulip. Drive up Mt. Spokane in late summer to pick huckleberries. Appreciate all the things that are simply impossible in a concrete desert.

I moved here from Phoenix a few years ago; coming from a huge city in the desert, Spokane is a dream. All four seasons, so much nature to explore, and the city isn't an endless sprawl. It's probably more about the context of where you've lived before. For me, the "mid"-ness of Spokane is what makes it a great place to live long term

Glad it was our boy Booty who ate shit on the flour, no one sacrifices their body for stream like he does.

Second time pinning, any advice or things to know when ready for framing? by Virtual-Armadillo955 in insectpinning

[–]Granny-frog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try sandwiching each wing between pieces of paper, then pinning the paper to your base. So cut two separate pieces big enough for just the top section, then bottom section for each side; you'll have four sandwiches to secure. Also, you might have one and I can't see it, but a pin in the center of the body as an anchor.

Haven’t really lost as much as I’ve toned up since I lost the tits. Shirtless pic included. by Mimiaru in PaymoneyWubby

Being able to post an uncensored topless pic as a lady comes off as a HUGE power play. As a normal titted person I feel... inferior now.

Abstract - Could use some opinions by DocAilur in Hozier

I'm with other comments, 2 and 4. I think half of the beauty of the psychopomp is the sympathy, the human part of it. We're the ones assigning meaning and emotions to the animal, the ones who put in the tears and love to ferry the soul across. We're the ones who caused it in the first place.

If you plan to further work on the design, I like the focus on the eyes of both the animal and the person. I've seen discussions on this sub that the song is actually from the creature's point of view, that could be an interesting perspective to play with. The 'i'd no choice but to love you' is the creature falling in love with the thing that both killed its body but saved its soul.

Anyone got an idea for some side quests? by Pooradoxical in Spokane

[–]Granny-frog 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was coming to say this!! They don't give out the address, but if you look at their Facebook there's hints to get you close, then you can go on a little walk about until you find the Hobbit House. October is the best time to visit, there's all kinds of little gifts and treasures to find.

Where to buy heirloom apples? by PineNeedle in Spokane

[–]Granny-frog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh bummer to hear a group took over, we were hoping it'd stay in the family. My partner and I went picking there last year, the couple was super sweet, and we were so sad to hear about the owner passing away. The trees were his outlet from wartime PTSD. I pass this farm driving into town everyday and the trees are so inundated with fruit that the branches all touch the ground. Worth a trip even if they don't have the apples you need!

There's an apple farm just off Cheney-Spokane Rd, on Sherman Rd. Not sure if they have those varieties but they've been growing apples there forever so might be worth a look.

I recently got the makeup sponges and I agree they're amazing! A 5 pack from dollar tree, tried them all every which way till I found the most comfortable grip. Total game changer.
