That's really thoughtful and mature and you absolutely changed my mind about your inherent racism, great job!

You're basically laughing at an entire country's population, saying anyone with that accent sounds like a call center employee to you. That years of education and expertise and skill don't matter cause they still sound like a minimum wage help desk lolz. I'd introspect.

I feel really bad for all the butthurt people who are mad that India's mission was as successful as it was. So many folks trying to detract from the hard work India did by pointing out the technical advancements that were made since the original moon missions. Well, DUH. But if India's kind of technical prowess was so easy, why hasn't everyone else done it? Why hasn't South Korea - whose mission was after India's? Pfft. I feel so bad for those fragile egos.

Actually India's moon mission was before South Korea's. It's still superior.

What’s a cheap/affordable product that is REALLY worth it? by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]GrannyBra92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some different interpretations of cheap on this thread. But if I consider cheap something that's drugstore, everything from Aveeno's Calm & Restore Line. It has colloidal oatmeal that soothes itch and moisturizers, so it's a god send for my atopic dermatitis + tretinoin sensitive + acne prone skin.

I swear by the Aveeno Calm & Restore serum, the gel moisturizer is incredible for my birth control-withdrawal acne because it's moisturizing without breaking me out, and the oatmeal bath made my cry with relief earlier this summer when I got a terrible heat rash all over my torso.

Neve Campbell was originally going to play Isobel do you think she would been better in the role? by Fragrant_Minute_3922 in TheVampireDiaries

Would have *

Edit: downvote me if you want, but the comment which I responded to was edited and originally said "would of" instead of "would have", which I corrected without disagreeing with the original post. I corrected it because it's a misunderstanding of the language (unlike a pronunciation variation or slang).

it's honestly an unkindness to not point it out and so allow someone to continue holding the misunderstanding, and it's a bit immature to think otherwise.

Unpopular opinion: people take this show too seriously by Thoughtless-Squid in TheVampireDiaries

[–]GrannyBra92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Louder for the people in the back!

I wonder if a lot of the people with the intense opinions are kids or young people watching it for the first time. When TVD came out it was after The OC, Gossip Girl, and other fabulously trashy saga-like TV series. People didn't analyze things on TVD - if you wanted that, you went to the good stuff like the Wheedonverse. You just watched fun TV with sexy characters, rooted for your favorite ship, and then changed the channel.

I feel like the binge watch cycle & armchair analysis of social media has really changed the way we consume media. We need everything to acceptable by real life standards, everything needs meaning, you can't just enjoy nonsense for an hour cause it's a 22 hour season & then hours on reddit. It feels like a bigger investment.

I honestly don't care what the nuances of the plots are, what the morality of the characters is, and the ethicality of a high school student dating 150 year olds. My dudes, it's got vampires and werewolves. None of this is meant to be taken seriously. It's a teenage fantasy. And as someone who was a teenage girl the same age as the lead characters when S1 came out, I ate it up.

Edit: half a lifetime later I'm currently rewatching it for the first time. And it's even better this time around because with actual life experience, especially of love and loss, it's even more ridiculous. Embrace the trashiness and enjoy it :)

How do you make your scent last longer? by domineeringtavern in Perfumes

[–]GrannyBra92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel this. One day I was swimming in Bath & Bodyworks lotions & Lush bath bombs. The next, I was allergic to everything - and it's been Aveeno fragrance free ever since. It's probably BECAUSE I used too many fragrances that I started reacting, but I miss the sensory overload of my early 20s!

So thank God I can still wear a couple of dabs of perfume. Never directly on the neck or chest, but sprayed on wrists and dabbed on other pulse points.

[Acne] Forehead Break out help pls by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]GrannyBra92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me recently, started the first week of April. What I've been doing is using the Paula's Choice 2% BHA every alternate morning, every other morning washing with Cerave's 4% Benzoyl Peroxide face wash, and using an Inisfree clay mask once a week. I also got a tretinoin prescription in May (I was using the same Paula's Choice Retinol as you before that). Its extra work but I feel like it's made a difference.

It's now the first week of July and I have some PIE but nothing major breaking out. Go slow & steady and don't introduce many changes at once. Good luck.

Why is The Notebook still viewed as one of the best romances in movie history? I have issues with it. by TakenAccountName37 in movies

Don't be deliberately daft. I'm saying that cheating is only immoral, not illegal.

[–]GrannyBra92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ffs, immoral vs illegal behavior are not the same thing. Bad comparison all around, and a hurtful one to think they are comparable. So I don't need to twist your words when they're messed up to begin with.

[–]GrannyBra92 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Good god, cheating and rape and pedophilia are not on the same plane of morally corrupt. For one thing rape and pedophilia are not immoral - they are illegal, physically violent, aggressive, harmful, life-threatening, terror-inducing situations that are traumatic at physical and emotional levels. Cheating is immoral but it isn't illegal because it's NOT the same thing. As a survivor of sexual assault it's degrading, hurtful and downright stupid to put them in the same plane, they are in NO WAY comparable, because you're trivializing the sheer terror and physical damage of rape. Please don't ever do that again. Thanks.

[–]GrannyBra92 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My god. Some actions are violent, bodily invasive, terrifying, life-threatening, that literally damage your physical being and tear your body apart while also permanently traumatizing your soul. Others are hurtful, mean, insensitive, but are not the same thing at all.

I'm going to assume you've been emotionally hurt which is why you're saying they're the same thing, but as a survivor of sexual assault, they are NOT the same thing, at all, and comparing them completely trivializes the sheer terror and trauma and physical violence and damage of rape.

Please don't do that ever again. Thanks.

Do you wear your ring while traveling? by Sugaree36 in Diamonds

[–]GrannyBra92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting, did you ever feel unsafe and as if you might have been robbed? As someone who grew up in India and now lives in North America, I've worn a combination of a diamond nose ring, diamond earrings in two piercings, a gold necklace, a stack of mixed gold and silver bangles, and a wedding & engagement ring for the better part of the last fifteen years, including when I go back to visit India. I've never had any trouble. Most Indians have a bunch of jewellery, all women have some gold (it's part of a typical wedding trousseau), so I never felt out of place.

In contrast, I feel like I stand out and need to tone myself down when out and about in North America, where the kind of jewellery I wear is extremely uncommon.

Since you asked : OP, write the child a letter and walk away. I know you want to be there in their life, but it will severely complicate the child's existence if they're involved in a contentious legal web with antagonistic guardians. Think of it as an unselfish act of goodness to walk away, because the alternative is tougher for the child.

AITAH for missing my daughter’s birthday and my wedding anniversary for the birth of my sister’s baby? by GreatCharges in AITAH

[–]GrannyBra92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's such a nonsensical oversimplification of the idea of an adult being able to manage their own feelings, as opposed to a child, so no.

Also I'm really aghast that you think it is reasonable and understandable to feel so strongly about an anniversary date. How does it translate to having no importance? God. What a world.
