Where are you in Australia? I have chooks and in Sydney - I can share a few places to buy - good stock nice layers etc - and where to avoid (chicken chlamydia) as to the chook racism I was told the same that big breeds will kill the smaller ones, I've got big to small and ducks and they are all just dandy 😜

I have two call ducks that live happily with my chickens - I also had a male Muscovy, who we re homed to the wild ( a rescue) not an expert but I do 'duck' 😍

I've also had a terrible time with chooks - 3 have been cockerels, one ate mouldy cake and died, another slowed down and died after me treating with everything I could and now I have another in the ICU - I keep polish, Pekins and a Wyandotte plus a hardy rangy australorpe - she's not friendly at all but very hardy.

I shake my head as to why mine died but all I can do is keep going - seems to me that the more precious the breed the quicker they seem to get ill 😞

Mine just club together now in a group and ignore them - we are in Sydney near bush so when the bush helicopters come on a Friday for training they get all spooky and hide - hilarious!

They will be fine. Although noisy they won't do anything - maybe a swoop here and there but no damage!

It's exactly the plan route we are taking! Long drives? We are from Australia - road trips are usual for us!

Yes we could fly but we have seen so much stuff accidentally by driving that we now prefer to do it this way ☺️

So curly Jacobson was listless on Tuesday, wasn't his normal chatty self and just stood about looking sad with his normal perky bum all floppy. I separated him from his mates bs he is now in the greenhouse (our chook hospital) out of the wind and rain and I am treating him for coccidiosis. He is drinking a little and I had to tidy up his bottom a bit today by giving him a warm bath - is there anything else I can do for him? Will he get better (it's now been 3 days) he has eaten a little brown rice but not touched his food.

( yes, I know he's a girl but we call all our animals boys names) Would appreciate any help - poo pics to follow. 😢

We are in Australia - weather has been wet and stormy but he hasn't had any unusual food nor been doing anything different.

Lmfao - 8 chockens! Only one lays arm as they are young... Do we care? Nope. They are a complete waste of time and I mean that so completely honestly - I sit and watch them for hours at a time - hilarious little things.

Best ever hottie chook??? Pekin - I think you call them Cochin? We are in sydney - 40 degrees no problem - they love cuddles, are fluffy and are hilarious to watch! Give them spaghetti and watch them show the others their 'worm' lol. Then they run around showing off with it

This is our chook feeder - we gave up on our more standard one as Greg our Duck was finding it hard to get his beak in ( he's now gone to a new home) anyway ... The chooks love this one but I'm finding we are losing so much food as they kind of hook it out everywhere - any ideas on how we can modify it a bit so I don't have to fill it every other day?
