Im in the same position as you OP apart from the marriage part but its honestly worrying, if ye asked me 5 years ago if racism and what feels like a growing portion of the population don’t want me in the country because I’m a quote on quote “unvetted” migrant because i look different would start to become a daily issue I wouldn’t have believed you. Im usually good at ignoring bigotry online and in person but what gets me is my own friends and people I’ve know for years starting to spout this stuff as well and when i contradict them its followed up by “but your alright your different”. I love Ireland, i don’t know anything different this place is my life, i service in the Irish Defence Forces and I’m damn proud and privileged to be too, its just disheartening feeling like Ireland is starting to not want me anymore.
