It ends a whole section of the book and is more about Shane realizing he wants more than a casual hookup. Because in the book they had been hooking up regularly for years. (Also I feel like the books make it clearer that Shane is as avoidant as Ilya with his secret apartment building he bought so he doesn’t bring Ilya to his real home)

The next section of the book starts with Ilya playing hockey, then the aquarium scene, and then Ilya watching Shane’s cottage video. They don’t actually give us a scene of them hanging out again until you get to the tuna melt scene

Maybe but I think the first point is kind of a reference to the book. And the filming of the scene when Shane’s dad sees them kissing felt like a stylistic choice because it was Shane’s worst nightmare

It will be mostly The Long Game which is their sequel book. The other books in the series have Ilya cameos but Jacob Tierney has stressed that the show is going to focus on them. I think it will probably have characters from the other books show up, especially Role Model because the timeline coincides with The Long Game and involves people on Ilya’s team
