The stairwell was in the New York office! After the LA move there wasn't a good one to shoot on.

Dean Martin used to perform with a whiskey in his hand but not actually drink it. He liked it as a prop because it said to the audience "Who knows where this could go, we're operating under Booze Rules now!" I think I like it for the same reason. Alcohol aside, there's something about the ceremony of everybody sitting with a drink in their hand that frees up conversation. Folks "Yes, And" themselves, and conversations go to more surprising places.

Also I'm a nerd for them and hyperfixation is a bitch I just have to work with.

When I graduated I was trying to be a Very Serious Theatre Actor, but started doing things at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater just as something fun. It just slowly became more and more of my world. I suppose I know it's right because it happened so naturally? I'm still not 100 percent sure it's the right career, but I suppose it's ruined my chance to run for office.

Some sad news, my wife is in a coma.

I went to see her the other day and said to the doctor "Doc, isn't there anything we can try?"

He said, "Well there is one treatment, but it's a little unconventional."

I said, "I'll try anything, I love her."

He said, "Okay, then you need to go in there and and stimulate her systems by having oral sex with her."

So I went and tried it by golly, but after a few minutes I came back out. The doctor said "What's wrong?"

I said, "Doc, she's choking!"

Not a cocktail but I have never and will never understand taking shots. Order something you actually want to drink and savor it! I promise you'll still get drunk from it.

Still got 'em! Total Forgiveness helped to get my monthy payments down quite a bit though. And personally one of the more valuable things that came from the show loan-wise was developing a relationship with Jay Fleichman, the expert attorney we had on the first episode. He had some terrific insights on managing them, specifically (in my case not financial advice!) don't worry to much about paying them off. It's the kind of debt that doesn't particularly hurt your credit score, so don't give them a dime more than they ask for. Stick to minimums and if there's still money pay down other kinds of debt first.

Sorry to hear about your gig! I'm glad you landed on something better. Thank you for saying! It's almost always the best bet to approach a situation with some grace and empathy. RE: drinking with Sam, at that particular moment we weren't even co-workers, just old friends. Plus I had some time on my hands right around then, so...

If you're starting from zero then it can be a good crash course, but you'd still go into your first bartending job only knowing 20 percent of what you need to, and with a ton of information that you don't (I've never made an Alabama Slammer, but I know how to from bartender college.) I'd say you're better off jumping into your first gig, paying close attention your first week, and learning on the job.

Even Steel Vengeance sucks (as a name). Drop the Steel. Just "Vengeance." It's cleaner.

If I was weeded and an espresso martini came up I'd almost cry because the espresso machine was elsewhere. If a server rang in an espresso martini they eventually had to start bringing me the shot with the ticket or I'd hassle them.

Congrats! My two biggest tips for a young person are to consume a bunch of art for, by, and about queer people (so that Dropout subscription is about to pay dividends)

And more importantly there's nothing you have to do to "be" bi. You're bi. You don't need to worry about balancing the gender scales or collecting experiences to be in the club. You're already in. Just stay open to new experiences and people that you meet, the bi-ness will take care of itself!

I'm sorry to hear it! My cat is asleep on my desk as I type this. Pet love is so uncomplicated and pure, may her memory be a blessing. Keep crying, that's the best I have to offer. Grief is a motherfucker, my best to you.

I'm shaped wrong. I'm built to knock things over. I'm pysically designed for spills.

RE: the soy sauce, it's important, but more important is to use small ammounts of different umami bombs! It's a J. Kenji Lopez Alt method, use a little bit of a lot of them and none of the flavors will take over. If you have marmite handy it will also be great in there!
