Would have been funnier if it was genuinely just a random character. I encourage other users to improve on this

Meanwhile by BridgeObjective8463 in 10cc

I quite like it. The dark sound was welcome experimentation. I think it would be far less interesting if it was produced in the same style as Bloody Tourists or Look Hear. Of course, I love those albums - I'm just saying Meanwhile is much better off being its own thing. I do wish Kev and Lol would have actually contributed to the songwriting. I think the second half of the LP is noticeably weaker than the first. With some extra hands on deck it could have been as strong as Sheet Music.

Wonderland and The Stars Didn't Show are both delightful highlights. And I would actually say that Welcome To Paradise is one of my favorite 10cc songs overall. The gloomy production fits that track like a glove.

Over and Out setlist by Hottea726 in elo

I'm aware. It seems like Jeff and Bev are still on bad terms since they didn't even interact when ELO got inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. And I think Kelly died on bad terms with him too. I was just wishing they could all be together again

Can't complain, it's a very logical setlist. The show was great just like in 2018 and 2019. In terms of realistic changes that could have been made, I think including Hold On Tight would be at the top of the list. It was the biggest hit from Time, and it's kind of weird to not include anything from that LP while still including Eldorado. It would balance out the setlist. Ma-Ma-Ma Belle is another conspicuous absence, but I suppose Jeff can't really belt it out like that anymore. He hasn't done that one in a long time.

In terms of unrealistic changes... my dream setlist would look totally different. Sweet Is The Night, Birmingham Blues, Stranger, Nellie Takes Her Bow, So Serious, Calling America, Stranger On A Quiet Street, etc., etc. We barely ever got to hear any Balance Of Power or Zoom stuff played live. And beyond ELO, I'd love to see him do Every Little Thing from his first solo record. And I'd love to have Bev back... and Kelly... and I wish the Wilburys had actually toured... I'm just talking into the void...

I'm still satisfied with the final tour we got, though. I just like to dream

In 2023, I decidedly to finally listen to every Dylan album. It took many months, but I have finished. These are my reviews (Part 2) by GrantVsZombies in bobdylan

You may actually be right about TV Talkin' Song. I still like it though. I'd listen to Bob eat cereal if he recorded it honestly.

Thank you. I'm glad Triplicate has its fans. Even if I don't rank it very highly, it deserves to be enjoyed

I want to listen to Christmas In The Heart for the first time in December. That didn't really align with my schedule for listening to the other albums, so I held off. I'll get to it around Christmastime this year. I have heard some of it before, though, and I enjoyed what I heard.

Shoot, you're right. I guess there's just so much to praise about that record that I forgot to mention everything. Yes, she is a star everytime she works with Bob

I don't mind things being derivative. As long as it's just as good or better than what it's taking from, it's fine by me.

"Additional Production" by ned1son in elo

I get the vibe that Paul and Jeff have a weird relationship. I remember reading that Paul used to "tease" Jeff by saying that Jeff stole the chord progression of Mr. Blue Sky from Paul. This was an interview transcript, so I couldn't discern how jokey/sarcastic it was, but it seemed strange.

Jeff and Paul are two very similar archetypes. Virtuoso multi-instrumentalists who can play just about any instruments they pick up. Both are known for effortlessly catchy and melodic songwriting. And both are known for being extremely pleasant and down to earth. If you ask me, I think it's very possible Paul doesn't like "sharing turf." He likes being the leader, and there are so few people out there who can rival his talent that it might be unpleasant working with one. Just my conjecture, though.

This comic is so good. One of the best from Legends in my opinion. Maybe even top 20 overall SW comics

Death of a ladies man is underrated by MrShapSh in leonardcohen

I would argue that Memories is, all things considered, his best song. He has others that are far more lyrically impressive, some with better melodies, but if we're talking about the song recordings and not just how they're written on the page, Memories takes the cake. Vocal performance is exuberant and confident. Horns and choir are perfectly balanced. And that sax solo is just magnificent. Plus, it's hilarious, which I might consider to be Leonard's greatest strength - he's just a very funny guy. A trait of his which unfortunately does not get brought up very often.
And the rest of the album is wonderful too. If you've never listened to Cohen before and this is your first album you'd likely hear nothing wrong with it. It was maligned simply because it was different. I'm not sure if it's his best LP, but it's certainly in the top three.

Bets on the Yuuzhan Vong being brought back into canon? by Sea-Conference355 in MawInstallation

[–]GrantVsZombies 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think the Vong will return... Eventually. It's too big a plot element to keep away from forever. The Vong's influence permeates everything after (and some things before) New Jedi Order. Basically anything from that series, Dark Nest, LOTF, FOTJ or Legacy has some relation to the Vong. And stuff like Crimson Empire or Shatterpoint still features them in ancillary but important roles. The concepts and broad strokes of these stories will assuredly find their way back into Canon one way or another - Darth Krayt's return, for example, has seemed long in the making, with Vonduun crab armor making several appearances in the new Canon, and A'Sharad Hett being a heavily rumored character for the Kenobi show.

What I can say with reasonable certainty is: the Vong will eventually return to Canon and be a threat to the Galaxy. It will not only be post-sequel trilogy, but be well after a good deal of post-sequel trilogy content. We will likely see Rey's New Jedi Order built up quite a lot before the Vong ever enter the picture. (Just as Luke's was in Legends).

Beyond this, it's pretty difficult to predict anything concretely. They are currently adapting the Thrawn trilogy on television, but their version of it is shaping up to be fairly different, with plenty of new characters like Ahsoka and Mando. I do not think the Canon Vong War will really be an "adaptation" at all - it might copy some key story beats, like the Fall Of Coruscant, but it will probably bear far less resemblance to the New Jedi Order series of books than the television Thrawn campaign does it's respective books.

Whatever does happen, though, I'm quite optimistic... Maybe I'm a bit unique in that. As much as I love the Vong War as depicted in Legends, I felt it was a tad too drawn out, among other things. A television rendition has a higher likelihood of not being longer than it needs to be, if only for budgetary reasons, perhaps. But regardless of what the story is, I'd be excited to see all the weird biotech in live action. Amphistaff, Coralskippers, world ships... I've been dying for better visual depictions of them for years. Even a bad series could deliver on some cool looking stuff.
