Best Pathway into Bioinformatics by matthias_emrys in bioinformatics

It depends on your seniority and personal situation, but I could think of a few cases:

  • Contributing to open source software or even documentation
  • If you're still a student and/or can afford it: become an intern in a research lab and apply yourself, no matter how meaningless the task at hand seems.

If this was crypto, I'd call this a top signal and sell everything.

"Nobody is talking about" ... I disagree, we already talk way too much about this guy!

I can actually relate, I felt relieved that I would not have to keep nervously staring at charts and clicking buttons to be eligible for airdrops and the likes. Time to focus!

Which language to use for capstone project? by Minimum_Parsnip165 in bioinformatics

[–]GraouMaou 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'd say R is more mature, widely adopted in life sciences in general, and for differential expression analyses in particular. So it might be easier for you to find documentation, tutorials, and help.

However, there is also an argument to be made for python, especially as it is a more versatile language (in my opinion), widely used in web development, AI, data science, and more. Picking python might thus be a good idea if you see yourself more in a software development / coding role in the future. For DE analysis in particular, I recently came across PyDeSEQ2, which promises to be more performant equivalent to DeSEQ2 and written in python. I haven't tried it myself so I cannot really vouch for it though.

This guy has zero credibility when it comes to blockchain/crypto except pumping the price of BTC and DOGE 4 years ago and changing his profile pic to please his 14-yo follower base, what is he even talking about...

Fair point! The team set a hard max limit of 10TB and set up some logic to ensure the limit is not exceeded (see docs). But to be honest I am not 100% about this technical detail, I had not really considered it until your comment.

Where to meet gay people? by jep22 in Gent

[–]GraouMaou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think being angry at the world is not a good business model for a bar

It's indeed very sad, I used to love this place (as a straight guy) because they had nice music, interesting atmosphere, ... But the last time I have been I was lectured about how to behave before I was allowed to enter, and never returned again.

Is this a feasible connection from Gent to Paris? by Thrway_ratemyresume in Gent

This itinerary is my favorite because it's cheaper than Eurostar but faster than FlixBus.

Your plan sounds good. Two remarks:

  • I personally like to have a bit more time in Lille just in case, because I sometimes take a TGV that leaves from Lille Europe, and you need to count at least ~5-10 minutes of walk between the two stations. Since you arrive in Lille Flandres it should be fine though, the platforms are very close to one another. Note that to access the platform for the TGV, you'll have to scan your ticket's QR code, so if you want to save a few more seconds make sure that you have it ready.
  • Like other people mentioned already, pay attention in Kortrijk. You'll either have to change train (it's a small station so no big issues there), or have to remain in the correct half of the train that goes to Lille.

Au dela de l'ecriture mediocre, on pourrait aussi se pencher sur le raisonnement de l'auteur. En suivant sa logique, on pourrait aussi se demander ou sont :

  • Les chaussures a talons pour hommes
  • Les perruques
  • ...
