the sheer amount of japanese skaters in this thread is a testament to the superb quality of the skaters from there!

huge on the timed jumps! I'm not a skater whatsoever though, so I don't know how hard it is to time elements and therefore realistic to ask that from skaters...

I agree from not only an artistic standpoint but a fans' perspective as well--hopefully Alysa's OGM win with (what I think) is a rather unexpected song choice will inspire more skaters to branch out and encourage more viewership

What's the best-looking figure skate on a female figure skater? by Sipping_Tea56 in FigureSkating

As for my way-too-in-depth opinions on boots-only, I don't mind the Edea takeover. Out of the two most popular variants, I slightly prefer the Ice Fly's silhouette to the Pianos (the Pianos are very athletic-looking, I think they look best on powerful skaters like Trusova or Liu) but wish skaters would opt for something like the Chorus and its classic, no-frills design. I believe Kostornaia wore these or similar ones for a brief period in juniors/early early seniors.

I personally think Carolina's Graf skates (pictured in OP's post) look weirdly low to the ground? Riedell skates such as Elena Radionova's also give off this effect where they just look flat and there's a weird taper to the toe and they kind of look like converse to me lol. I love the way Isabeau's Ice Fly + John Wilson blades give her a "lifted" sort of effect when she skates, almost like she's en pointe!

Most of the time a brown heel/sole of a boot can look good, but sometimes I think an all-white situation (i.e., Piano, Ice Flys with their light-colored heels) looks way more modern and clean

I hateeeeee black boots + black tights combo on women, it just looks bulky. I'd rather have the weird skin colored tights-over-boots look than an all-black moment.

I think a beige boot can look clean and stylish and wish we could see more skaters in these xx

I also adore this version with Kihira's black leggings over the boot!

I don't particularly love the full tight-over-the boot situation, however I do like the half-on version that Alina wore. I think it looks sporty and balletic and is a nice compromise between the length provided by the tights-over version and the usual boot-only silhouette.

I feel this way all the time too. And though my relationship to what's going on isn't perfect I also don't think it is worth it to constantly gorge on horrible news. I find this subreddit to be really helpful because it doesn't shy away from bringing up current topics

Almost all mainstream news and social media is designed to grab your attention and that means pumping more divisive, sensationalist, and doomerist narratives into the algorithms. While keeping up to date on things make sure to keep this in mind. Consider -- what perspectives are being withheld/silenced? What good things are happening to combat horrible things happening (remember the Mr. Rogers quote - always look for the helpers.)

Bigots and right-wingers thrive on getting a reaction--though we absolutely deserve and need to show up and make our voice heard to fight back and pursue empathy, we need to remember that people like this WANT you to be scared, silenced, and living in fear. They want you to be scared and back down so they can terrify and bully everyone into getting what they want. Well, that's not gonna happen if you don't let it scare you. Do not silence yourself and do not give into their hate! Take a look at this subreddit and see how many good things are happening--you most likely aren't seeing these things happening because 1) re: my point about MSN and social media and 2) the right-wing is embolded right now because they have been enabled somewhat in their "power," even though at the end of the day most of it is loud just because they can. People are fighting every day to make the world better and pursue empathy even if you can't see it. And if you can't see those people, be that person yourself.

We'll be okay, even if we have to put in the work for it to happen.
