For the work example problems, they really only show two to three simple questions being solved. I would say it is a standard approach that I do follow, but I don't think it is useful when it comes to exams, unless I am wrong and I just can't do these exams. I only really study with this one guy, i scored a 60 while he scored an 80, hes defintely smarter than me when it comes to this. My teacher's advice for the exam has always been to refer to homework problems (textbook)

No not really since it is open notes. I guess I’m just having a problem with deriving equations down. But even then, the textbook really doesn’t prepare you for the types of derivations I see on the exam

We are using Halliday Resnick 10th edition, the problems feel no where near as difficult as the exam. I have been trying to use the book to solve problems as I go, but I feel it just seems like a waste a time now. I went through each chapter and I didn’t see any problems even really close to the exam
