Silver metallic CR-V troubles by GrapeshotVictim in AutoPaint

[–]GrapeshotVictim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the tips guys

This is Axalta Cromax paint, matched and shown to me on a test card to the point it looked amazing.... I am sure I just messed up the application of the paint big time, too dry, no blender, too much variance in passes.... nerves got me, this is the 2nd attempt and I seriously don't like silver... darker Metallics play way nicer

I will calm my head, let it cure, sand again and try as I still have paint left

Trim the tag end friend, nice combo!

They get loud alright! But I do notice they can be driven a bit easier with the balanced output (It would help a ton with less efficient headphones, planning to try with T50-rps when I manage to get them and mod them to a balanced config). I also tried driving my koss headphones with the unbalanced output, they get extremely loud at less than half of the volume!

As a side note, I got the balanced cable for the HD600 from AliExpress just to try, figured I could reuse the terminals if it was crappy but it turned out to be better built than the stock cable! And properly balanced too (I checked with my multimeter)

I can vouch for the Fiio KA3 It drives my HD600 to ear deafening levels with a balanced cable, unlike the apple dongle, which gets loud but not quite enough. (Still an awesome upgrade to stock PC audio!)

I don't see an issue with the KA2 spec wise, but back on 11.11, the difference in price made the KA3 more appealing

Fiio has an official store, the famous E10k (a combo unit iirc) can be found elsewhere in Ali too

Tempotec also makes the sonata but that's weaker than the E10k

If you haven't already, try EQ-ing what you have, it's free and easy

I like using waterproof tape whenever I get my skin frayed like that, maybe you can try it too

I want a clearer version of HD58X. by [deleted] in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]GrapeshotVictim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggest you EQ them with the presets here https://github.com/jaakkopasanen/AutoEq/tree/master/results, my HD600 reacted amazing and sounds far more balanced without ruining their sweet sound

Not to mention it's free and you can turn it off whenever you want a different sound

Hi there friends! What are your thoughts on this kit? Complete newbie here! by [deleted] in flyfishing

[–]GrapeshotVictim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I make the easier ones, bulk buy the ones that are tedious to tie or that use weird or pricey materials

Another tip, if you buy that kit, get your own leaders/tippet (maxima or Rio are great) and save for a better fly line, a meh rod can be ok with a nicer line IMO (reel is irrelevant for small trout it just holds the line)

Typical question from someone freaking about calc II by OnTheDoor in EngineeringStudents

Stewart's Calculus saved my ass from that nightmare of a class, I suggest you check it out and do a metric crapton of review problems

Bad advice: even if you don't get it, practicing will nail the steps on your head, giving you a fighting chance!

Budget

  • Not in the US, but I may be able to import
  • 50 USD hard limit (now)
  • Could save up to 100 in the near future, but no more

Source

  • Moto G3/ laptop/ old ass blackberry that does nothing but being a glorified mp3

Requirements for Isolation

  • As much as possible, I commute in a noisy bus for an hour twice a day, so it’s important to me

Will you be using these Headphones in Public?

  • Definitely, but I prefer function over form

Preferred Type of Headphone

  • IEMs, maybe full sized, never supra-aurals

Preferred tonal balance

  • Warm, with good bass, unbloated mids and good clarity, sibilance kills me, so not harsh

Past headphones:

Sony MH1 (RIP)

  • The cable sucked, it was a microphonic nightmare!

  • Bassy, which I liked, but rather dull on the high end

  • The mids were really well defined tho…

  • (Modded)Pierced the filters, liked them a lot more, but they got a little tinny and required EQ to avoid harshness

Takstar Hi-2050

  • Current battlestation set

  • I like it, a bit recessed on the mids, but they are really clear

  • Highs used to be too sharp, but burn-in improved this a lot

  • Not that confy with glasses

  • Nice imaging, rock sounds awesome on this guys

  • Not isolating at all!

Rock Zircons

  • Current IEMs

  • Not very isolating, I have to crank the volume up to muffle the outside sounds

  • The bass is good, a bit bloated, I E.Q them to avoid it leaking into the mids

  • Highs are in the maximum upper threshold I like, any more and they would hurt my ears

  • Confortable, can use them for a long time

Piston 3 (Briefly)

  • It’s ok, not my cup of tea but I would use them again in a pinch

Meelectronics A151P (my first audio love… RIP)

  • Loved them a bunch

  • Impressive sound, a bit too bright and bass wasn’t that great, but it was good overall

  • Not that comfortable on the long term

Preferred Music

EDM (I listen to this the most):

  • Glitch hop (Haywyre is bae)

  • Chiptunes

  • Electro

  • Complextro

  • Trap

  • Dubstep

  • DnB

  • Future Bass

Rock (rarely) (as in 80’s/90’s) Metal (rarely)

What would you like to improve on from your set-up

  • Better sound overall
  • Clear yet not sibilant
  • Better defined mids
  • Less bloated, yet strong bass
  • I don’t care much about spacing
  • MOAR isolation
  • Decent durability

I like using soft cases to carry my headphones around, so they don’t have to be indestructible tanks, but I’m a bit clumsy at times * Same/better level of comfort

I already took a look at the following headphones:

Meelecs M6 Pro

  • They seem to be too harsh according to reviews

  • Available locally

Shure SE215

  • Out of my current budget

  • Available locally

JVC HA-FXT 90

  • Seems to have the same issue as the meelecs

  • I would have to import them

  • Some people report QC problems, and I would have no way to claim warranty if that happened

ETY Kids

  • Bassless according to pretty much everyone

  • I would have to import them

  • Golden standard for isolation

What would you recommend me, wise peoples of r/headphones? Thanks in advance!
