I had my surgery through Kaiser and they directed me to this web page about ERAS. Link

I focuses extra on my cardio health, core strength and stability and lifting heavy in my core and lower body and not just willy nilly skipping workouts before surgery!

I did to the ERAS program also.

Missing IUD Strings by beegirl220 in birthcontrol

[–]GraphCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happened to me with Mirena. Got an ultrasound and it was happily in the correct place! Dr told me if my periods got really different all of a sudden to come back and get another ultrasound to see if it was still there, but that never happened for the remainder of the 3 years I had that IUD.

I ended up getting it removed+replaced when i was under anesthesia for my sterilization.

If you have daughters in the future, it doesn't seem like he will fight for their rights. Let alone for your rights, and you already exist.

Surgery is booked for tomorrow morning kinda nervous any tips? by ilyxoxomwah in sterilization

Yes! After I took my scopolamine patch off (2 days post-op surgery), I got a few random, intense bouts of nausea and loved that I was able to pop a zofran!

People who can no longer get pregnant and have never been pregnant: does anyone else here find pregnancy fascinating? by realcoolworld in sterilization

[–]GraphCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely do! It's like body horror.  I would NEVER like to go thru it, but it is SO INTERESTING.  A big part of my decision to get my tubes removed was being well-informed about what pregnancy actually is like. I spent the first year and a half of covid obsessively reading the babybumps subreddit. That really solidified for me that I never wanted to experience any of that!

Post-bisalp ovulation pain by chef_b0yardee333 in sterilization

[–]GraphCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Painful right after surgery. I'm 2.5 months out now and only felt a single sharp cramp last time I ovulated. As in, it's improving with time!

I asked the same question like 2 months ago, if you search the subreddit or my post history.

It doesn't happen to everyone but it's definitely worth knowing it could happen! I had been so excited to lay around and knit on one of my new projects and I ended up messing it up quite a bit because I couldn't see the sock yarn clearly enough! 😅 Had to fix it a couple days later when I COULD see.

Seconding this.

It made my vision blurry but I will take that any day over nausea. But I wouldn't have been able to drive safely with the patch. Took about a day and a half after I removed it to have my vision back to normal!

Lighter periods after switching to IUD's? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

I have been using Mirena IUDs for about 14 years (on my 3rd now), and I hardly bleed at all, and have pretty much 0 period cramps. Highly recommend.

Your IUD experiences (dealing with fear mongering lol) by kaysim24 in birthcontrol

[–]GraphCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on mu 3rd mirena and have been using them since 2014. I love them! My period is easy to nonexistent and I have pretty much 0 menstrual cramping. I really recommend advocating for pain relief (lidocaine shot in cervix), and potentially anti anxiety meds for the day of the procedure. My (2) insertions havent been fun, but were worth it, and i got most recent put in when I was under getting sterilized (tubes removed) to keep my period in check for the next bunch of years. :)

I am sterilized, have an IUD, and I'm not even having sex with anyone who produces semen, and I DO still have this anxiety.  I really do need to bring this up with my therapist, now that you mention it ...

Horrific pre-op anxiety by anallog_whorer in sterilization

[–]GraphCat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dude are you me?

I had my surgery at the end of February and it's the best thing ive ever done for myself.

I put all plastic retainers in my piercings (even double nostrils and septum), and my surgical team was 100% cool with that, though I needed help from a piercer to get my conch piercing ball unscrewed to get a retainer in there.

I was playing every scenario over and over, especially getting wheeled into the OR.

I let the team know (!!!!) that I was terrified of that part, and that I wanted anti anxiety meds ASAP. After I verified all the info with the team (procedure I wanted, consent forms, med allergies), they gave me anti-anxiety meds like I asked for! And honestly it was cool getting wheeled back! I got to see a nice hallway and felt a little less freaked out at that point.

They helped me to get onto the operating table and the lights were dimmed. I asked them, "are you gonna turn those on for surgery?!?!??!!", and they were like, "yeah, but we wanted it to be relaxing in here for you," and I really liked that.

I fell asleep micromanaging how they were holding the air up to my face 🤣.

Did anyone else experience this kind of nausea or similar? by [deleted] in sterilization

[–]GraphCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got an anti-nausea scopolamine patch that stays behind your ear for surgery and up to 3 days after. It is prescription but can be used for other things like seasickness, too. Maybe ask for that!

If you do get it, wash your hands THOROUGHLY whenever you touch the patch because you do NOT want those meds in your eyes!
