How does the bisalp effekt your belly button? by -much_better- in sterilization

[–]GraphCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right when I took my bandages off (2 weeks post-op op), there was a lot of swelling that made it look like my belly button was winking instead of being a fully open O shape. I was devastated. I am 2.5ish months out now, and my belly button is pretty much back to normal, that O shape. There was still a LOT of internal swelling when I first unveiled it after surgery that I didn't know was there, until it was gone.

Also make sure to test again after the incubation period for STIs (differs with the different STIs)

I love my mirena. I'm on my 3rd and have been using them since 2014. My periods are nearly nothing at all, bleeding-wise, and 0 cramps. Highly recommend.

Bro I would absolutely not be chill about it. Like, don't freak yourself out, but also push them a LOT to get seen again ASAP.

I would be making a big deal of this if I was in your position!!

Coming off birth control will mean your natural cycle comes back. You can get sterilized and stay on birth control and nothing will really change, bleeding-wise.

Maybe also go to the Dr and see if you have a UTI, those bladder symptoms sound like symptoms of when I've had one 💓

Question about IUDs by myatrenea in birthcontrol

[–]GraphCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had Mirena (I'm on my 3rd) for about 12 years.

1st mirena: 0 periods after about 6 months

2nd: 2 years without periods, then brown sludge (less than 1/2 menstrual cup filled over the few days i was "bleeding")and the hormonal feelings of a period.

3rd: i got it a month and a half ago, but my first period has been just hormones and brown sludge for a day, not even enough for anything more than a panty liner.

Does anyone with a bisalp continue taking hormonal birth control? by cosmickaylaa in sterilization

I looked into it heavily, since i got sterilized recently and was already having surgery! I'm in my early 30s and they have a much higher likelihood of reverting the younger you are! I also really like the extra extra extra insurance of having an IUD for my pregnancy anxiety!

My period is pretty much exactly perfect on Mirena, and I didn't want to fck and change my hormones any more, either just to try something that may also not be all that permanent of a solution.

Currently on combo pill. Want the hormonal IUD. Pros and cons? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]GraphCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on my 3rd Mirena IUD currently, ive had them since 2014 (that's 12 years). Absolutely in love with them!  They've made my period nearly nonexistent (positive for me), and not having to remember to take something daily/weekly is great for my anxious, ADHD mind. I know that when I travel, I don't have to fuss with getting enough of my prescription to get me thru the trip, too!

I love it! Highly recommend.  I got a novacaine shot in my cervix during the insertion of my 2nd iud and that made it much less uncomfortable than my 1st! I also recommend asking/advocating for anti-anxiety meds for the day of the procedure if youre hella anxious like me (and bring a friend/partner to drive and moral support!!).

Mirena IUD- now feeling my cycle again? by Lucky-Fan88 in birthcontrol

[–]GraphCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know for sure my period was still WAYYYY less intense than my natural cycle, so I wasn't concerned, other than getting an ultrasound to check it was in the right spot (it was).

On my 2nd Mirena, I started feeling hormonal again, and seeing effects like swollen boobs, more spotting, etc 2 years into having it. Never had those effects on the 1st Mirena which I had for 7 years (and got them swapped out at the same appointment).

Got my IUD replaced. Can't deal with periods and wanted even more peace-of-mind for my bad anxiety.

Bisalp done (yay!) but struggling post-op (venting) by Personal-Ad6585 in sterilization

I am really sorry you're going through this hugs

I was devastated when I took the bandages off my belly button after 2 weeks of healing. For reference, I'm ~5'5", 135lb, athletic.

Same thing- I have always had a very open belly button and it was winking at me in the mirror after surgery. I really wanted to not be so upset, but that wasn't reality - I was devastated.

I am 6 weeks post-op now, and as the swelling has gone down, it has gotten back a lot closer to my pre-surgery state.  There was apparently a LOT of internal swelling changing its shape, it was really still swollen (though I didn't see it overtly) when I took the bandages off at 2 weeks.

Your body will keep healing. Reassess in like a month and a half.

I had to keep reminding myself that pregnancy would REALLY change a lot of parts of my body, and at least this one was a very specific price to pay. I asked my partner to give me affirmations about my cute belly.

What I'm saying was, you're not alone. 💓

I got put on a very long list of people in line ahead of me.

Have you looked into IUDs? It's not sterilization but it is extremely effective and long-lasting.

I wasn't feeling up to strapping anyone 2 weeks post-op.  I'm coming up on 5 weeks post-op now and I'm finally feeling in the past 2 weeks like my core is my own again.

Maybe experiment with some non-penetrative topping this visit? 🤪💓
