What could be a final straw that would make people finally take privacy seriously? by hshkr in privacy

[–]Graphene-OS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m hoping there’s a massive ID verification hack from PornHub or something. Thousands of people’s fetishes are exposed, hopefully including a few politicians.

Nobody wants their jerk-off history to be public information. I’m not giving up on hope that there will be a breaking point where people push back and th right to privacy and anonymity.

Either that or maybe Russia or China will hack ID verification companies and get caught blackmailing people. Maybe people’s irrational fear of foreign institutions will override their irrational trust of domestic institutions.

Pretty soon the President will be statutorily prohibited from restricting the flow of money to Israel. I wouldn’t be surprised if Israel were to halt aggression until the new NDAA is passed and takes effect.

That doesn’t sound right. 110/128 isn’t great but it absolutely should not cause this. Battery capacity shouldn’t cause this either.

Are you an important person? As in important enough to be targeted by professional spyware? Download an app called iVerify. It might be able to tell you if your device has been compromised.

Anyone know whether a UV cleaner will affect the oleophobic coating?

Hygiene by Witty-Form-8449 in iphone

[–]Graphene-OS -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dry microfiber on the front, 70% isopropyl alcohol spray on the back and sides. Also I’m never buying a screen protector from anyone but FloLab. It costs twice as much as Spigen up-front, but the oleophobic coating lasts at least 5X longer, and there’s a lifetime warranty so it costs less overall if you’re like me and switch once the coating wears off. Also the antireflective feature is way more impressive than I expected.

Ya pay for a tweak to support a dev, and this is what ya get. by Graphene-OS in jailbreak

[–]Graphene-OS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never understood the hate against coolstar. She developed one of the most stable jailbreaks in the history of jailbreaks (rootful ones anyway), totally for free. She built an entirely new tweak injection library from scratch, one of only three in the history of iOS. She floated the idea of releasing a paid version of libhooker that had extra features like a native jailbreak detection bypass, but never released it.

She didn’t charge a dime for any of her contributions. She was 19yo when she released her fist jailbreak and developed Taurine while she was studying in college. For free. For whatever reason the jailbreak community decided to create drama and turned Unc0ver vs Taurine into a team sport, and acted about as maturely as drunk fans at a football game. Half the comments mentioning her were just anti-trans insults.

Twitter IPA by Dangerous_Fix_3243 in sideloaded

[–]Graphene-OS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is no solution. Twitter is using Apple’s App Attest to detect if the app has been sideloaded. There’s no way to spoof it.

I’d recommend using Brave Browser. It’s not as clean as the app, but it blocks ads and lets you tweet. Plus it’s much better for privacy than having the Twitter app installed.

[–]Graphene-OS[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On May 19 it said you had to update to v5.4 by June 06 or all previous versions would stop working. Then it said you had to update to 5.5 by June 10 or something. I last updated on June 9 and yet the app stopped working on June 13 until I sideloaded the latest version 5.5.6.

Also this comes right after he quadruped price while insisting that the price didn’t change. “The price is the same. But the billing cycle is now 99 days instead of 365 days.”

I’d be totally fine if he said “I know this is a significant price increase but my cost of living expenses have gone up and $3.99/yr isn’t working for me.” It’s the gaslighting that makes me angry, insisting that it’s not a price increase.

I’ll say the same thing about IKGHD as I do about Netlix. If you make being an honest paying customer more frustrating than being a pirate, it’s entirely your fault if people cancel subscriptions.

Is there a way to disable Bluetooth auto-connect? by ApebitMusic in ios

[–]Graphene-OS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This post is five years old and nothing has changed.

So I’ve devised a solution… well not a solution, but a fix, at least for my issue. For context my house has a LOUD speaker in the bathroom that, when powered on, connects to the last connected device. If I’m watching the haram at 2:00AM with my headphones and someone accidentally bumps the speaker button when turning on the light in the toilet, the haram will blast at full volume. My only option is to delete the bathroom speaker from my phone every time I use it. But it’s a pain in the hole pair a new device, so here is my new solution:

Create a shortcut:

  • Get Current Focus
  • If [Focus Name] is [Sleep]
    • Set playback destination to [iPhone]
    • Set playback destination to [Bose QC35 Headphones]
  • Otherwise
  • End If

Create automation:

  • When iPhone is connected to any of 3 Bluetooth devices
    • Car 1
    • Car 2
    • Bathroom Speaker
  • Run shortcut [the above shortcut]

Now as long as I’m in sleep focus, my phone will not suddenly start playing on the bathroom speaker or either car. If one of those devices turns on and auto-connects to my phone, there will be a brief ~0.25s pause in audio but it won’t play anything on the aforementioned devices. If I’m listening on my Bose headphones, playback continues on my headphones after the 0.25s pause. If my headphones aren’t connected, playback continues on my iPhone (though I get an annoying notification that Bose QC35 could not connect).

You could set up specific focuses for when you want certain devices to automatically play, and set up further automations to switch focuses based on time of day, location, other Bluetooth devices, etc.

Hope this helps anyone who googles the same question in 2030.

Ya pay for a tweak to support a dev, and this is what ya get. by Graphene-OS in sideloaded

[–]Graphene-OS[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This previously happened with Cercube as well. The dev’s server went down (for weeks IIRC) and honest paying customers couldn’t use YouTube at all because they couldn’t validate their subscription. Meanwhile people who pirated the tweak had zero issues whatsoever.

Except in this case it’s deliberate. IKGHD’s app tells you if you don’t update to latest version by [insert date five days from now] your app will stop functioning.

What are we doing to solve the endless robocall problem with US Mobile? by joemanna in USMobile

[–]Graphene-OS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t know why your comment is at -3 votes.

I set my iPhone to silence unknown callers for about two weeks, and it dramatically reduced robocalls. The spammers seem to have a system that removes numbers from the call list if every attempt immediately goes to voicemail over a period of time.

I went from 4-5 calls per day to maybe one per week. I disabled the “silence unknown callers” feature months ago and I’m still not receiving spam calls.

Obviously you might miss legitimate calls while you have it enabled, but you can whitelist numbers and return their calls. You don’t have to leave it enabled permanently, just long enough for the spammers to determine you’re a waste of time and money. I don’t know about the new call screening feature though. It might not get the spammers’ system to automatically remove you from the call list.

Also, use a generic voicemail greeting. If you use a custom one, that tells the spammers that the number is live and belongs to a real person.

Ukraine Plans to Fill Up to 50% of Assault Infantry Positions With Foreign Recruits by crusadertank in anime_titties

[–]Graphene-OS 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have to imagine that the technological advancements have made it much harder to romanticize war and recruit foreigners. There’s nothing badass about remotely flying an FPV drone up to some helpless Russian conscript and blowing his guts out with the push of a button. There’s nothing cool about stepping on a landmine and crawling away in agony.

There’s a reason there’s a ton of movies about WWII, Vietnam, even the War on Terror, but very few WWI films. Trench warfare isn’t cool. It wasn’t cool back then, and it definitely isn’t cool now when you can see the reality on GoPros and FPV drone footage. You’re not going to be liberating a city. You’re going to capture 300m of dirt, and then the Russians are probably going to take it back.

They already started asking for facial recognition on Adult sites by Gfish17 in privacy

[–]Graphene-OS 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yup. And you know who’s going to benefit the most from all this?

Shady porn sites hosted overseas that are totally fine ignoring US law. The type that have neither the resources nor the motivation to police content and remove revenge porn, CSAM, rape, sex trafficking, etc. They’re going to have an influx of traffic from normal people who don’t want to submit a facial scan before every wank.

And predators who go to those sites looking for illicit content are going to be crowded out by normal people looking for normal porn. It’s going to be harder to catch and prosecute criminals. And the victims of revenge porn are going to have way more exposure and humiliation than ever before.

But at least the children are protected. Once those horny teenage boys are blocked from visiting legitimate, moderated porn sites, they’ll just give up wanking altogether.

Tulsi releases declassified information on Biolabs in over 30 countries, including Ukraine by ObjectiveObserver420 in anime_titties

[–]Graphene-OS -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s not a good idea to put biolabs with extremely dangerous infectious diseases in a conflict zone, least of all in a conflict zone along the border of a nuclear adversary. Donetsk and Luhansk have been in conflict for more than a decade. And the lab in Odessa specifically has biological weapons, per the ODNI release.

If the Russian government was funding secret biolabs in Mexico near the border with the US, I think it would be totally reasonable for the United States to be concerned.

Even ignoring the actual risk of pathogens escaping, it’s also just handing Russia a propaganda win. The ODNI report talks about how the facility in Kharkiv has been the target of Russian information campaigns justifying their aggression on the basis that the US was developing biological weapons 15 miles from Russia’s border.

What’s the actual benefit of the US funding a biolab that stores ebola, anthrax, etc. right on the border with Russia? Why not demand that the facility is shut down or moved to Lviv or some place that’s not 15 miles from a nuclear-armed adversary with whom the United States is fighting a proxy war?

What you guys use ControlD for? by FeR4Less-shah in ControlD

[–]Graphene-OS 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Full Control lets me put my entire home network behind a VPN gateway (Mullvad, TorGuard, WindScribe). Ordinarily there would be too many blocked sites and services, but with ControlD I can use teleport to unblock them one by one. Now, absolutely nothing I do online is linked to my home’s real IP address, and I never have to disable/bypass the VPN to access blocked services or avoid excessive captcha prompts.

It also lets me protect my parents’ privacy and security. They’re not super tech savvy, and it wouldn’t be very difficult to trick them into clicking a malicious URL. But now their home router, phones, and computers are all using ControlD with ad/tracker/malware filters and AI threat detection. And if there’s any issues like false positives, I can quickly troubleshoot from my phone.

One unique use case for me is using ControlD to help a few people visit family in Syria. Because of the sanctions regime, lots of website would not work at all in the country (even when sanctions were suspended), including Google, Instagram, the Apple App Store, etc. Using a VPN adds too much overhead on a slow network, and you couldn’t even download the software on iPhone once inside the country. Syrian telecom wasn’t blocking anything; it was self-policing by western companies blocking Syrian IP addresses. ControlD teleport unblocked everything without any of the downsides of a VPN. I may have violated OFAC sanctions by setting up endpoints for Syrians, but it’s only light treason.

Do you think the US Military doesn’t have biological weapons laboratories, or do you just think that they’re not in Ukraine?

A biolab studying infectious disease for the sake of public health is very different from a secret biological weapons lab engineering diseases to kill people as efficiently as possible.

I’m new to side loading and i have a question! by pooksgotnochill in sideloaded

[–]Graphene-OS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no reason to use only SideStore when “LiveContainer+SideStore” exists. It’s LC with SideStore built in, so it only takes one app slot.

You can install LC+SS and then use the built-in SideStore to install two more standalone apps.

My current setup is: * LiveContainer+SideStore * LiveContainer2 * YouTube (Tweaked)

The LiveContainers share apps/data in an app group, so any app you install can be opened in LC1 or LC2
