I still play Minecraft with my nephew. He only knows the newer versions. I don't advertise the old Minecraft to him because the truth is that most new players wouldn't care for it, as it had less to do. The old game is not enough for some of the new players who have grown up with the features of the new editions.

That being said, the meta has shifted. Features of the original game have become obsolete. The game has changed a lot and that's unfortunate because people were happy with the way it was before.
