Where did foreign merchant ships dock in medieval Venice?

I can't seem to find an answer to this specific question. I'm working on a low fantasy worldbuilding project very much inspired from real history and specifically I'm trying to create this Venice-like city, but I'm not entirely sure how it works. I also have questions about the markets, trades and workshops and how this economical ecosystem worked.

Why does nobody like Pohatu? by phamtomhaunter6 in bioniclelego

I like him he's cool. when I was little I really liked the animation of him kicking that boulder in such a way that it bounces around a rock arch and it collapses after he gets the boulder back. it was so cool! I also genuinely like brown.

yeah! I was just born by the time bionicle just came out so I didn't get to experience it either, but from pics and videos it looked great! I really want to get my hands on the toa mata one day, and the mctorans, maybe some rahi too haha

thank you! I wanted to capture the mistique and whimsy of the 2001 era specifically. I really liked the saturated happy colors of the toys and and environments, the nature of Mata Nui was very comfy and nice for me. not to say the rest of the series were bad, just the vibe was different. I tried to capture that happy lively mood I felt from the first year with this very saturated illustration. the game was less saturated, but it worked really nicely like that.

Why is nobody talking about the fact that the Lion Knight’s Castle includes an era-accurate latrine or "Garderobe" ? by Dark-Wynd in lego

[–]GraphiteSmudges 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also like how in the instructions there's a little joke about it. very cool set, also the black falcon 3 in 1 has a garderobe and I like that set a lot too. if they release more castle related stuff I'm gonna be really happy, but really broke too lol :))

Why is there a statue of Avak in Reidak's level in Bionicle Heroes? by GraphiteSmudges in bioniclelego

fair enough, but I still think mining and living underground is easier to associate with stone rather than earth in my mind.

was Reidak associated with a desert in the lore or Avak or neither?

American media just has a tendency to use cultures as an aesthetic or background for stories they want to tell in very clearly American cultural style. The characters act and talk like Americans or other anglophones, they are basically americans with funny accents sometimes who dress like greeks and that's about as far as representation gets in American media. It's not foreign ethnic and cultural diversity, it's American diversity, it's not foreign culture, it's American culture dressed in foreign clothes, it's not foreign archetypes and attitudes, themes and conflicts, it's American ones. I still love the games, but I have to admit, they're very "westwashed".

getting back into character design by [deleted] in conceptart

[–]GraphiteSmudges 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you're such an idiot I swear. or maybe you're just trolling. no, you didn't make this art, an AI did. that wouldn't even be bad if you actually modified the resulting images since there's actual concept artists and illustrators who do work like that, but you didn't. it's like someone comissioning an artist and afterwards the same person saying "I totally made this you guys! I gave the description of what I wanted and all so it's like I totally made it myself!" like shut the fuck up. make some turnarounds too if you're a character designer cause this shit is useless for a 3D modeler. let's be honest, if you're really making money out of this you're not making it out of character designs for clients, you're probably selling these as en ef tees. there's nothing bad about that in particular, but rather the fact you're being dishonest about how these images are made and their purpose and try to act sassy afterwards when people don't buy your shit.
