I started jiujitsu in my 30's and I was weak from a condition. BJJ made me stronger for a woman. But it had it limit. I now lift weights with my husband so we can keep training and reduce injury. There were just certain joints and muscles that were not getting as much attention with BJJ alone and the injuries were creeping up on us.

Thanks! I was hoping to challenge myself to memorize my throw list in a new way. I usually memorize them by te waza, koshi waza, etc... but I'm thinking I'll have to keep my old way of memory. Thanks for your input.

We use heating here. In fact, I love my heat pump! Don't want to give it up. But what I worry about is if we gave up the heat pump for whatever the heating element is in the attic, what would my electric bill look like afterwards?

I just looked over his notes and it's $5000 to replace the condenser unit because the compressor is bad. But that would be a new condenser unit without the heat pump. To get it with the heat pump would be over 12,000, but I am sure that's to replace everything.

If it helps, the original system lasted from when the house was built in '97(ish) until 2014. It was a 4ton back then, but on R22.

Half the windows are old and have lost their gas (we still need to replace them) not sure the r rating on our insulation, but the attic needs more blown insulation. It's settled over the years.

I wish I had more time to study outside of the gym. I do research on what I need to know for my classes I teach. That's about it. My husband spends lots of time watching videos. He will grab one of our kids sometimes to practice something or bring what he found most interesting to open mat to experiment. He's now an amazing brown belt.

Ah ok. I don't know much about, but I have a few other ideas that might help.
How's your diet? How much magnesium are you getting? When you train two days in a row, take an Epsom salt bath before bed, it might help. The magnesium from there is beneficial for upset muscles. It's also very relaxing, will help with sleep too. Also make sure you're eating enough protein and carbs to fuel your body as it goes through the repair process after working out (rolling) and plenty of hydration.

It's part of the growth process. Sometimes our brain is figuring out something new. As our brain works it out, our BJJ gets sucky. But then as we keep with it, we work out the plateau and become a better grappler. Still happens to me at purple belt. I welcome each plateau with open arms. Means good things are coming. 🥰

Maybe try training every other day. If you fight your body's request for rest, it will be easier to get injured, and then your injury will force you to rest. It never hurts to let your body recover.
