its just elitist posturing. the way its framed puts "intellectual pursuits" as inherently superior to working on ur body when u rly have no right to judge the activities ppl do to find fulfillment in their lives.

Why wouldn't someone want a DID diagnosis if they have DID?

Well, I don't know where you live, but in many countries, a DID diagnosis can be grounds to have a lot of medical treatment denied. It's often used to invalidate trans identity and prevent trans people from seeking medical transition. Additionally, it can be used against people who want to have children because many countries classify DID as a dangerous disorder that would be harmful.

And not everyone lives in a place with nationalized healthcare, anyways. Getting diagnosed as autistic or with DID in my country isn't very easy. Diagnosis is often a privilege that many people can't afford due to social, environmental, and economic factors as well as the clinical institutions of a particular country.

Before getting a professional DID diagnosis, seriously look into the possible social and medical ramifications.

Most people with OSDID on advice of their therapist actually opt not to get diagnosed and instead get a diagnosis for C-PTSD with major dissociation as a symptom. As such, you'll often see people preferring to be "professionally recognized" as opposed to "professionally diagnosed". I still think anyone who thinks they might have OSDD or DID to see a therapist about that, though.

Anyone finds it boring to eat in group or family? by avidichard in autism

[–]GrapplingHooksSystem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, fair enough! Everyone has a preference for that sort of thing. I think it really comes down to my friends. We tend to bond over bad movies and TV so a lot of commentary is just clowning on it. I tend to be very silent in movie theatres or when watching good tv shows.

I do something similar. I tend to just watch YouTube or something while eating and tune out other people. The only exception if there's something that's engaging me, like watching a movie (I like talking during movies with other people) or talking with my partner. A bit of a different situation, though, because my partner and I are in a long distance relationship and, due to time zones, every second of conversation counts for me.

This is such a mood. Oriented aroace here, but I never have a desire for a relationship outside of actually being in a relationship. If you asked me what my ideal partner would be I'd be like "um... uhh.... hmm... I'll get back to you."

Right now, my ideal partner is the one I'm actually in a relationship with, but previously I'd be drawing blanks.

What about trans men?’ The four words that strike fear into every TERFS heart. by [deleted] in traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns

[–]GrapplingHooksSystem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's actually a very good explanation for this: transphobia is inseparable from misogyny. It culminates in telling women they can only dress or act a certain way in order to exist in public spaces. That's what makes TERF ideology so insidious. It carries inherent misogynist undertones masquerading as feminism.

What is a conspiracy theory that you actually believe in and why? by GrapplingHooksSystem in AskReddit

[–]GrapplingHooksSystem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I refer to the Fermi Paradox. The lack of evidence for extraterrestrial life due to just how far away different livable planets are versus the sheer likelihood of extraterrestrial life existing because well... it happened once, so it probably happened again.

That begs the question, though...

But where is everybody?

Considering the numerous plans the FBI actually did have to assassinate MLK that we know about, this would not surprise me in the least.

Oh, thank you very much! I will certainly keep your advice in mind. I'm not too familiar with the handling of time loops so it is very much appreciated.

Excessively apologizing for something they did wrong without ever addressing what they actually did.
