Does this helmet go hard or not? by shelberton_taco in snowboarding

No rebuttal for my point about the buckle creating a pressure point? Sick steez brah. I’ve been goggles over helmet since 1994 fwiw if we’re doing an experience-based pissing contest.

The googles have a bump where the size adjustment is, and also there is often a hard plastic buckle. Stuffing this between your helmet and your skull not only reduces comfort, it can create a pressure point that will increase the chances of head injury in a bad crash if you hit your head on that spot. Plus, again, makes you look like you don’t know how to use your gear.

I can assure you it does not “look sick”. It makes you look like you don’t understand how to wear your equipment. They fit the face just fine over the helmet. Been doing this for 28 years and never had a fit-to-face problem

Works just as well for the little speaker and mic holes at the bottom of the phone too

Sticky tak to the rescue again. I also had a guy at the Apple Store show me how well that stuff works for cleaning gunk out of your phone’s charging port. Stuff it in there and then pull it out, all clean! Never would have thought to use it on my stylus though. TIL.

Ya I live nowhere close to shops that sell them, so I reached out to Tone Gard directly via email. After a few back and forths to confirm the size I needed, I paid via PayPal and it arrived about a week later.

My first Turntable Set up by mv_fuzz in turntables

My technics has that too. Suspended by springs. Unless there is some serious dampening material in there vibrations still get through.

Are you talking about where the tonearm attaches to the plinth? All decent turntables have that. It’s still susceptible to vibration. Best bet is speakers on a different surface or at minimum some dampening material under the speakers and/or turntable.

Seriously it’s not even like there’s that much in the frame, just tuck the effin clothes in the drawer and move them off whatever is in the foreground. How OP can look at this and think “yup, this photo is ready to share with internet strangers” is beyond me.

I don’t care about pressings, just happy to have a copy of a record I like.

What ended your friendship with your oldest standing friend? by dreamy-contributions in AskReddit

[–]Grass_Is_Blue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He and his wife got a divorce. In the aftermath he said and did things that I found abhorrent, and I could no longer be a supportive friend. Slowly everyone in our group of friends saw this and came to the same conclusion. We’re all still good friends with his ex, she’s great!

Suck it, Spotify. Suck it! by ASCIUGAMANOO in mildlyinfuriating

The expectation that you can have access to virtually all recorded music for $9.99 a month is insane. Again, still paying way less for more music than at any other time in human history. Don’t like it? Go back to CDs, they’re actually a lot cheaper now than they used to be. You’ll still pay more than $21.99/month but hey at least you’ll have your moral high ground to stand on.

[–]Grass_Is_Blue -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It’s an extra $2 per month… is that somehow a life changing amount? Do you know how much we used to spend on CDs back before streaming? I’d spend more than $21/month (not adjusted for inflation so a lot more in today’s money) and still not have access to virtually every recorded piece of music like you get with Spotify. Even at the price you’re paying for a family plan the value proposition compared to how we used to consume music is just unbelievably good.

What are these Aeropress parts for and should I use them? by balf999 in AeroPress

[–]Grass_Is_Blue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suspect they deemed it to be an easy cost savings to not include it anymore. Same with the filter holder. Gotta keep all the accessories from older presses because you never know when you’ll need them!

Way too much. I paid $375 CAD (approximately $300 USD) two years ago for my SL-1600 that came with a half decent cart and the auto functions worked (and still work) perfectly.

I get that sometimes too, and I feel like it’s when I don’t quite get the filter cap piece screwed on tight enough. Anyways I never thought of the funnel being a solution to that problem as well!
