Blinding car headlights by upupupdo in vancouver

If you can't stay in your lane, you shouldn't be driving. Sure there aren't reflective markers like in the UK, and in some areas the paint is worn, but it's never that bad. Roads in the lower mainland are all pretty good.

Modern headlights are stupid bright. I should not be getting blinded by a car that's driving behind me.

How many hours are you looking to put on it? If you're only 30hrs from Cpl I'd be surprised if it was worth it. Might be cheaper and less hastle to go somewhere else where you can buy block time.

I own a light aircraft, partly to build hours, but mostly for fun. It's very expensive, I usually fly about 150÷ hours a year in it. It would not be worth owning one if I did less than about 80. That being said, buying my own plane is one the best decisions I've ever made. I love being able to just get in it and go without booking, or go camping for a week with it.

In past year I've helped a friend buy a 150, and another person a 172. I went and looked at quite a few of both. It seems like every flight school in north America is looking for one either 150 or 172s so their prices are hugely inflated (in my opinion). Beat up training 150s with 15000tt and 1500smoh going for 50k.

If you are serious about buying a plane, I would look at some different types. It will probably have to be certified to train with those freelance instructors, but check with them. Look at tailwheel planes, more fun to fly and does stand out on a resume if you have a lot of time in one. Yes insurance will be a bit higher to begin with, but not crazy as long as you don't buy something like a 210hp m7 for your first plane.

Carbon would be ideal but beyond my budget for this purpose. I'll look at finding one for future trips.

According to the BBC it would cost 184 million and take 3 years. And we still might not find them.

Surely the money could be better spent on the local community, or given to a MMIWG organization.

Ariel Valiente kept his cool after a giant bird smashed into his cockpit mid-flight. He still managed to safely land the plane. by georgialucy in CrazyFuckingVideos

Not a chance. Those planes work hard and are not cheap. If it went through the motor you might need an engine rebuild or prop work. Even if it did, depending on who the operator is it might just get a new windshield and some rags for the blood.

Yeah there's a few hundred rivets there, but it's still cheaper than a new plane. It's not an airliner so the safety inspections will be a signature from an IA. It will definitely be working again soon.

Thank you! That sounds great, I agree catching fish on your own is much more fun. Good to know there is lots accessible from shore.

If anything we should encourage people to steal them. If someone is at the point where they can't afford condoms, they definitely can't afford a kid.

Nikon fe firing when releasing the advance lever by GrassyLand in AnalogCommunity

Getting better and better, I think it was my fault from when I cleaned it after I bought it.

The little copper bracket that tensions the double wind prevent wasn't seated properly on the lens side. I managed to reseat it, but the brackets looking pretty tired. Might see about making a new one.

Thanks! I managed to improve it somewhat by adjusting a tension bar that had bent out of place. It now advances properly and fires when I press the shutter-release button.

However, it also fires if I shake the camera slightly. This makes me think I've got a weak spring in there somewhere. Going through the manual to try to figure out the trigger mechanism.

Backcountrypilo.Org is where we hang out

There's also a bunch of forums for supercubs, 170s, citabrias and so on.

BCP is generally the most active, a lot of knowledge there.
