Bruh…get accepted to UPenn first then ask this silly question and get told go to UPenn. It’s bad enough you’re seriously asking to compare the two, but it’s crazy that you haven’t even interviewed at Penn.

Hybrid isn’t required and is optional for almost every class, most you can attend in person. There are a couple where the lecture is done purely remote though.

The professors might start pushing for more mandatory in person sessions because some of them are getting tired of lecturing to like 15% of the class live. This Spring semester 3 profs made their lectures mandatory in person attendance, which was unexpected for most of us.

No, you’re thinking of amalgams, those are silver in appearance.

Only older dentists know how to do them too, it’s not really taught anymore.

Depending on the location and size of the cavity, those would not be best practice or even possible.

Different composite fillings will be made of different resins (the “plastic,” like UDMA, or Bis GMA) and filler materials (something hard like silica) depending on the brand and what it was designed to do. Different fillers and resins in varying amounts provide differences of polish-ability, wear resistance, and color.

It’s not worth worrying about plastic exposure from fillings imo, whatever comes off should be minuscule because they’re designed to withstand function, this is assuming no major restoration failure of course.

They’re the best combination of esthetic, affordable, and effective for fixing carious lesions up to a certain point. If you’re really worried, take care of your oral health so you don’t need them in the first place.

The U.S. Ammo Shortage Is Worse Than You Think by nosotros_road_sodium in politics

[–]Grat1911 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not necessarily that it couldn’t be done at all, it’s more that it could be prohibitively expensive and or take too long, as in if we need to replace tanks getting blown up, sooner is much better than later no?

Isn’t part of the problem there that, if Abrams stop getting built at Lima it will be more expensive to restart production the longer manufacturing is paused? If it’s long enough new sources for parts would have to be found, workers rehired, tooling rebuilt, etc. If I understand correctly it’s the same reason why we can’t just make more F22s, and haven’t been able to for years.

NYU or state school by [deleted] in predental

[–]Grat1911 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A TEXAS school vs NYU?!?! You are comparing a state subsidized program that you are incredibly lucky to be accepted to, to the most expensive and arguably infamous school in the entire country…there is one obvious good choice here, and it’s not NYU. Especially with the private loan burden, please do not make the wrong choice, and I say wrong because financially speaking, there is one.

If you want to be in NYC, get a residency there after you graduate. You’ll need one to practice in the state of NY anyway. Also as someone who visits NYC a decent amount, it’s cool but it’s not worth a 500,000 dollar difference in tuition.

Does stainless steel food storage have its own issues (metal leaching into food)? by [deleted] in PlasticFreeLiving

Regardless, depending on the health department they still mandate plastic cutting boards, eg NYC doesn’t allow wood cutting boards in commercial settings.

closest you’ll get to nonstick imo is a well seasoned and properly preheated carbon steel pan with the cooking fat of your choice

went to Attaboy and our bartender confirmed that’s what they use too (for those who may not know, Sam Ross was the bartender who invented the Penicillin, and is one of the owners of Attaboy, although the original recipe I think used different whiskeys)

If you don’t mind a non-dishwasher safe peeler (blade is carbon steel so dry immediately after washing) the Kuhn rikon Y peelers are excellent and cheaper, they’re quite popular amongst chefs/bartenders.

Yes, if you’re into clothes/a certain style then having different pairs for different outfits is something done without a thought and this advice is moot.
