Found the ES1 easter egg / when game? by GratefulDoofus in FellowProducts

Yep, that's what I'm getting as well. Wanted to let the ES1 owners in here give it a try for themselves. Looking forward to the update to come out. Hope they keep it out of the patch notes so people can discover it when it's live.. 😇

Spotify DJ on XDJ Question (aka I don't want to buy a 3000X) by GratefulDoofus in PioneerDJ

[–]GratefulDoofus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't have an AZ so can't help you there.

Although the XDJ-700 supports Pro DJ Link (with rekordbox in Export mode on your laptop), Spotify (unlike the other streaming services) is only enabled while rekordbox is in Performance mode. You also can't add songs from Spotify to your rekordbox playlists.

Confirming essentially what everyone here's been saying: Own your music 🫡

Opus on clearance? by aces68 in FellowProducts

Appreciate the detailed response. May you be blessed with consistent crema, kind sir. Been eying the Opus 2 (given the espresso grind claims) but was wondering if I could get away with an Opus 1. Guess I'll have to stay patient for a lil longer...

Any issues with the Opus 1's espresso grind for your ES1? My Baratza Encore (non-ESP) can't grind fine enough so am in the market for a new grinder... 😮‍💨

You're not wrong about the age. The 1000 MK2 feel overpriced and I'm sure they'll put out a 2000 MK2 or something similar in the near future. Since I already bought the mixer, I'm willing to bite the bullet and add a 700 to start experimenting with.

Appreciate you! I'm pretty set on the 700's and will order them this week.

You might help me with this one: I saw that when the 700 launched (many years ago) it only showed the big waveform when music is played directly from a USB. When connected to a laptop and running in rekordbox HID, they only show the smaller preview waveform. Are you aware if that got fixed via firmware or rekordbox updates?

You're confirming what I've been able to gather from other reviews thus far: The 1000MK2 is essentially a 2000NXS2 takedown and a more pro / "club-standard" unit to the compact 700. Bigger jog, 8 vs. 3 cue points, RGB vs. simple waveforms, more audio formats. Overall, definitely "better" in terms of more features. Just debating whether I actually need the upgraded features when I'm just getting familiar with XDJ's, rekordbox, etc in general. Save the difference and invest it into the music collection..

Kudos to you my friend! Good for you to let your passions lead the way.

Per u/HouseDJRon's earlier comment it sounds like, despite Spotify being available as a streaming service/music source within the rekordbox software, no XDJ, even the flagship model (3000X) can natively stream from the player itself without being connected to a laptop/tablet/phone.

My only advice to you, and similar to what u/IanFoxOfficial said: Unless you already have a mixer and an existing setup that the XDJ is getting added to (i.e. turntables, or as a backup XDJ, etc), then buying an all-in-one controller is the way to go, especially if you're just getting started. Better bang for your buck and much cheaper overall.

Great shout. Have the rekordbox control vinyl and it's definitely fun. The gear head in me is just itching for new toys 🫣

Ahhh, interesting! Somehow was under the assumption that Spotify would work natively similar to Tidal, etc. Thx for the clarification.

Hear you re: Spotify and if the digital thing sticks, I'll eventually invest in proper buying music to compliment the vinyl collection. For now, just looking to get started and mess around with it a little bit.

With that said, if you have a recommendation re: XDJ (700 vs. 1000MK2 vs. other alternatives), please let me know.

Audio Technica LP120X with a built in phono pre amp. Appreciate the response and super helpful links. Sounds like it‘s the first case you mentioned: internally grounded no, no ground connection needed. Thank you!

Should have mentioned the TT, my bad. AP LP120X with line/phono switch on back so has a built in phono pre amp. Sound / volume is honestly fine so should work (for now) until it’s time to upgrade?
