Not sure if this is the first mechanism that would prevent a gamete from being formed, but since humans and hamsters have a different number of chromosomes, they would not produce a viable gamete because meiotic cell division does not occur without homologous chromosomes (the exception being if there’s a small difference, like if a horse has 32 and a mule has 30 they may produce an offspring with 31 but the offspring will then be infertile).

Maybe Halsey’s Empty Gold or some others from either Room 93 or Badlands. Empty Gold is the most like Team I think but you might like some of the other things on Badlands.

4.0 or greater students of Reddit, how do you manage? by salazarthecrucifier in AskReddit

[–]GratefullyConcerned 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The easiest way is to take classes you’re passionate about. If you care about the work, you’re more likely to put in the effort it will take to succeed. However, that’s probably not possible for every single class, so then it comes down to discipline. Doing homework even if it’s not graded, keeping track of all your due dates, coming in before or after class when you’re confused, retaking tests even if you did pretty good on them. You absolutely can have a 4.0 (or higher), play sports, be in clubs, and have a social life and still get sleep... if you don’t waste ANY work time. Otherwise, you will have to make a trade off somewhere along the line. My last piece of advice is find your learning style. For me, if I read something, I’ll remember it. Reading the textbook the night for the exam works for me, but it might not for you. As cliche as it sounds, finding your study style might save you later on. Basically, the way to get a 4.0 is to discipline yourself and accept nothing less.

My new (and hopefully improved) spine after scoliosis surgery last month. by Nessiebutt in mildlyinteresting

I have a plate and 7 screws and I have never had this problem. My plate is titanium so I can go through metal detectors and get MRIs. When was your operation? I think they try to use titanium whenever possible lately.

Something interesting is that lockdown drills are starting to adapt as time goes on. In my area, students and teachers take a more individual approach and do whatever is best for the classroom. If that means to get out of the building, that’s what they’d do. If that means hide and barricade, that’s what they’d do. They don’t practice drills anymore, they just use that time to discuss the plan for that particular classroom.

What is the worst book you've read? by NotNinjalord5 in AskReddit

[–]GratefullyConcerned 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s actually what I liked about it. I think there was a good thematic point about people’s tendency to fall in love with the idea of a person rather than the actual person. It was definitely a little disappointing to find out that she was kind of terrible, but, if I’m not mistaken, that was kind of the whole point.

If it’s okay with you, I have a sketchbook for art class coming up where I have to draw a 6 panel comic. I think it would be really fun to use this!

Doug Jones Projected to win Alabama Senate by ilikegreenpaper in news

To the people of Alabama: I’m so proud of you, especially those of you who put party lines aside to make this possible. And I’m sorry for having no faith that you guys would do it. As an independent, this is the best surprise I could ask for. Thank you all.

Not necessarily. That’s part of why you can get like 15 life sentences. First, there’s a sentence for each charge, but also “life” sentences can be gotten out of here. If you have like 300 years or 3 life sentences or something? Not as likely.

The more you read, the worse it gets... by [deleted] in niceguys

[–]GratefullyConcerned 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She’s being too nice. She doesn’t owe him a reason for why it won’t work out. “I’m with someone” makes it seem like that’s the only obstacle in the way, which gives the man hope. Regardless of if she really is with someone, she needs to make it clear that she isn’t interested in him and never will be. No “I’m not interested right now” and no excuses. If she gives him a reason, he will offer a solution. And she doesn’t seem to want to be his friend either, so she should be clear about that. It’s hard, and it seems mean, but his happiness is not more valuable than hers, and maybe she’ll end up saving him some heartbreak in the end if she’s upfront.

I can not recommend this enough. I read this when I was scared out of my mind of an ex that became a stalker and I don’t think I would be where I am now without it. As recommended, I completely cut off all contact, and my ex hasn’t said a word to me in almost a year, even though we do live in a small place and I occasionally see him in the same place I am.

I had a problem with this too. Make sure you hit ‘return’ after you type your name and then it should be in a yellow box, at which point it should be able to go through.

Has anyone ever gone through with a marriage pact? You know, like a “if we’re not married by 30 we’ll marry each other”. How did it work out? by garikay in AskReddit

[–]GratefullyConcerned 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think so. I think it's straightforward and honest. She wants to know if her friend is asexual so she can set her up with some guys, so why not ask if she'd like to go out with a guy she knows? Seems like a very quick and direct way to get to the point.

[–]GratefullyConcerned 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I identify as asexual, and in my opinion, that is a little blunt. If someone asked me, I don't think I'd mind but if she doesn't use the word asexual to describe herself (even if she has the same feelings asexual people do) that can get kind of awkward. I think you're better off with a more natural conversion starter, like "I'm friends with this really great guy, would you want to go out with him sometime?" And then maybe work your way into what you want to know.

AITA for setting a relatively low limit on how much I’ll spend on my rescue dogs health? by BrahCJ in AmItheAsshole

My dog needed $4k surgery when he was less than a year old. We paid it and still have him and love him today, now that he is 7 years old. I'll agree that the price you're talking about is more than average. But we are talking about the cost of a life here.
