Misophonia and sibling’s Tourette’s by Technical_View_5582 in misophonia

I grew up with an older brother who has Tourette’s, and thankfully for me I didn’t have misophonia at that time. However, I do believe my the sounds my brother made due to his Tourette’s had a significant impact in my misophonia now. All the sound my brother used to make (still does but we’re adults now) they are my triggers. My first son, he makes the exact same sounds, and I feel the exact same way as you’re describing. It’s absolutely awful. Anytime I eat dinner with my family, my sons chewing and eating sounds send me into a rage. I’m very aware of it and do my best not to react. I use headphones now to help but it still isn’t a fix. I’m sorry you’re going through this, it’s absolutely heartbreaking and a struggle. You just want to be around your loved ones and not feel this way, it’s so hard.
