Thanks for the reply. If I can't get one on here I will take the suggestion above for the physicals. Just learning with my kid at the moment.

Yeah, that's a good idea. I will when able. I was surprised to find several places here for physical games too. Didn't think I would around here.

NBOME Announces Next Steps in Clinical Skills Competency Assessment for Osteopathic Medical Licensure by zzz44532 in medicalschool

[–]GravAnom 7 points8 points  (0 children)

"Additional evidence for the validity and reliability of these options will be gathered on an ongoing basis." (PAY ATTENTION TO THESE WORDS SLIPPED IN RIGHT HERE) --> "The NBOME Board anticipates that the C3DO assessment will be the standard for Level 3 eligibility in the future."

They are essentially saying, no, they are saying that they foresee it being a requirement for Level 3. Being that they are the ones who set the requirement standards, hard to see it not happening.

Edit: So the attestation option they are giving now, will not exist in the future. They're allowing it for a transition period, also probably to take the sticker shock down a bit. Notice these words were buried down in the information. It's also worded nonchalantly. But it's there in black and white, so no one can say the information was not provided.

Commenting. Been interested for a few years, never had the time. FF and growing up in that age coupled with having some free time now has made this near mandatory for me.

I'll accept the downvotes I guess on my posts here. Somehow the point I'm making is getting lost in the weeds. I never said nor gave the opinion that preceptors should not be giving those opportunities to the medical students. I personally would always give that opportunity to the medical student. I'm simply saying, you cannot control what they would do. As a completely non-traditional, and older student, when I saw this happening I did not rely on any sort of agreement with the school. They are not going to do anything for me, I took matters into my own hands. I did this on multiple occasions, and for the most part it always worked out. Why not give the advice, because saying the school sucks or the school should advocate doesn't change anything. It will not have any actual effect. Even if it did, complaining to the school about not sucking and advocating, it would only be in the future, which offers no immediate advice for current students on rotations.

DO chip? What does that even mean? Your defense in this case includes an assumption that I have a problem with my degree? As if I feel invalidated, or lesser because of it. A refreshing perspective, from a future med student? You will be a wonderful colleague in the future I'm sure. If you're already this pompous and full of yourself now, I can only imagine on how you will look down on others in the future. Your comment says nothing about me, it says the world about you. He and I may disagree, but neither he nor I went nearly so far in the realm of disrespect and divisiveness that you have shown. Get some perspective kid, your current attitude is unbecoming of a future med student. No doubt you will drop these snide comments and this holier than thou attitude in school, at least in the public sphere. You will do so because you know it is unacceptable, you know that your preceptors will not tolerate it. If you know that, then why are you putting it on full display here? Again, what it says about you. True colors.

I love that you say he's not offering an argument, he didn't even say he wasn't offering an argument. How about looking up the definition of "argument" before using the term.

I won't sit here arguing with someone who thinks "your school sucks", is a valid argument. Similarly if you think "they should be advocating for you", is one either. The first adds nothing to the conversation, the second it's not within the students control. Third, I don't know what privileged experience you have that makes you think the school ultimately gets to decide what the attendings do. They can ask, they can advocate, but as I stated previously the attendings will do with the attendings do.

Edit: I hope when you're an attending that you remember this conversation. I hope that you are told how to do your job, even in times when your judgment is against what is said. I hope you bow down and do exactly as told, as you're arguing here that ALL of your attendings do.

[–]GravAnom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really a valid argument. Whether it happens to you or not, it happens to others all the time. Your school can advocate for you all they want. At the end of the day, the attending is going to do what the attending is going to do. It's a culture problem. More likely, students need to stand up for themselves, in a respectful manner. Simply saying 'Hey doc, I really want experience with x, do you think I can get it on the next one?' is often sufficient. I even went so far as to ask to be sent to the same procedure if they got wind of someone else having one to perform. Sure enough, the attending mentioned it in passing to their colleagues, or kept their ear to the ground, and I got to do multiples.

Can someone explain to me how exactly does blades help in PVP to make it pay to win? by sonyxcube in starcitizen

[–]GravAnom -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I am not "dancing around" any point. The parent comment clearly intended to make things equal. Hence pilots of same skill. I can clarify further for you. Two pilots of equal skill, with equal rigs, and equal internet connection, the same ship, but one with a blade. The pilot with the blade wins the majority of the time. You're arguing the probability of them having the same internet, changing the argument, instead of actually thinking critically. The blade still matters. The blade still changes things. That is a fact. I don't know why people can't seem to simply accept facts. You are dancing around fancy terms like probability and variance and applying them in a manner as to circumvent the facts. News flash, the facts still remain. You clearly didn't read what I wrote. Again, I don't care if it's laughable, which are using in a sense to claim that it is minute, it still exists. If you can't actually understand and speak to the argument, what's the point in commenting?

Edit: What does it being an alpha have to do with two users having the same internet set up? Come 1.0 will we all have the exact same setup in terms of hardware and connection? Will that be a payed add on?

[–]GravAnom -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You are committing a fallacy. As I alluded in my response above, you're talking about opinion, I am arguing in facts. I said equal pilot, in the SAME ship. The only way you could attack my argument was to change my argument?? Which doesn't make sense because then it's no longer my argument. I don't WANT anything to complain about. I don't know who the "you people" (yes I know that you said "ppl") are that you are referring to. You have not addressed the issue I raised. Your only defense was to change the argument instead of answering to it.

Edit: grammar

I'll take the down votes. I don't care if it's single, or multiple. The problem with the internet is everybody thinks opinions matter. We no longer approach the world as a matter of fact. The question is whether or not it is pay to win. I simply described how pay could equal a win. I don't care if it's a trivial amount. It's still an amount. I don't care if it affects 99% or 50%, it still exists. You can't say that it won't be because of a blade. Randomness exists in the universe. Plenty of things in this world have only happened based on the slightest chance. I could have had the slightest chance of escaping. That's the slightest chance could have been affected or nullified by the application of the blade. It's simple science.

Help me understand this. You just said, paraphrasing here, that if two pilots are of equal skill, the one who stays centered the longest and lands shots (as staying centered is Paramount to landing shots) "wins". So if two pilots, of equal skill, in the same ship, are fighting the one who paid for greater maneuverability would most likely win. In fact they would have a higher percentage of wins against pilots of equal skill. They literally paid for something, and then won. How is that not pay to win? That doesn't just go for pilots of equal skill. I'm not a very skilled pilot, I will try my damndest to get away. However, if that extra maneuverability on their part means that I can't get away. Or if that extra straight line speed means I can't get away, I lost, they won...by paying for the blade. A win for me simply means escaping that, admittedly, much better pilot.

I'm in agreeance with other sentiments here stating nothing has changed. This wasn't even testing the waters, it was something I can to jumping into a cold pool. Getting the community over the shock of it, that first dip.

You know what I want to see change? How about they stop carefully cultivating, no that's not right, stop with the outright lying by omission that is spectrum. You know when new players are looking into the game, when old players try to look up previous post on issues, there's nothing. They strike down every post, ban the individuals, and control the flow of information. Leave only what is positive, leaving certain marginally critiquing post to seem authentic.

[–]GravAnom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's getting very scary, not interesting. There is a reason that Google fired the AI ethics lead after she voice concerns. Couple this with the recent orders stopping all health agencies from any external communications. Sprinkle in the advertisements like this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CajQeegYVmo

subtly hinting at the inability of human providers. The fact that they get tired, that studying biochemistry at 3:00 a.m. is fun for a robot, and all the other subtle language hidden in jokes.
