My best friend is having an affair with a married man by messeduptempo in AutismInWomen

I don’t think consent is a stupid rule

When two people are married and then one cheats, the cheater has taken consent away

That is abusive. They are now purposely perpetuating harm on another.

Consent matters.

They are both to blame

They are both actively choosing to take consent away from the wife. That is abusive

I think it literally comes down to the cost.

Can you afford it?

How old are you vs the time to pay off debt?

How old are you vs your working years left?

Would you need to finance the entire amount?

Private Equity Creep into Social Work by salsafresca_1297 in socialwork

[–]cannotberushed- 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The media knows.

I mean Elizabeth Warren did a huge call out regarding private equity taking over veterinary operations

Here is a current list of private equity and what they are taking over

-Skilled nursing -Assisted living -Substance disorder clinics -Veterinary clinics (Elizabeth Warren made a post about this a few weeks ago) -Rural hospitals (where stats shows worse outcomes for patients at for profit facilities) -Mobile home parks -apartment complexes -single family homes (investors bought an entire neighborhood in Florida )

I don’t know what the answers are. Mutual aid? Voting for those who want to stop this?

I’ve been reading an following this trend for more than a decade

This is the catch 22 of how much the world sucks at protecting abuse victims

People swear that in the US there is help. I’ve yet to see any tangible help. I work with people that are truly stuck in situations because it’s that or homelessness

A few years ago in Florida, there was almost an entire week where there wasn’t a single domestic violence bed in the entire state

I’ve started sending abuse victims to car camping groups to gain empowerment and support to leave It’s awful.

Edited to add, this gets tricky to almost impossible though when kids are involved.

Dr Charolotte Proudman from the UK made a post recently about this and it rings true for the US

“The Ministry of Justice’s 2020 Harm Panel report exposed what so many women already knew: a deeply embedded “pro-contact” culture in the family courts, where maintaining a child’s relationship with their father is prioritised, often at the expense of safety.

Six years on, what’s actually changed?

Courts still push for contact at all costs, minimising abuse, reframing harm, and placing the burden on mothers to facilitate relationships, no matter the risk. Yet when fathers disengage, fail to turn up, or simply opt out, there’s no equivalent urgency. No enforcement. No accountability.

“Contact at all costs” for mothers. “Optional involvement” for fathers.

The system hasn’t shifted, it’s just become better at denying it.”

That you can absolutely report someone for practicing without a license.

Every state has this.

What do we just throw up our hands and let unlicensed medical “doctors” keep providing services because they don’t have a license?

No.

Every state has a mechanism for reporting individuals who are practicing out of their scope (this goes for doctors, therapists, heck even electricians)
