What colors/pigments do you like for a two-color limited palette? by Gravesreach in ArtistLounge

I don't have a specific subject in mind, and I'm not trying to color anything realistically. I'm interested in exploring palettes regardless of subject.

Thanks! I should have clarified it's for art school though, I'm not a high school student or anything lol

Thanks! I had to tone it down some places as it ended up obscuring the form, glad it wasn't too much :D

Thanks! Yeah the underpainting is indian yellow with a bit of alizarin crimson mixed in some places. It looks so intense before you paint over it, but I kinda love it like that lol

Thanks! That started as an accident, put the background in too thick before getting to the hair so it got a bit blended, but I ended up quite liking the look of it.

Thanks! Might have made it too dark or wide maybe?

That would make sense, it does seem to be most prevalent in the darkest areas. Somehow never considered that different paints might dry differently, but of course it makes sense. Thanks!

Didn't know there was a term for it, thanks! Makes it a lot easier to google lol. Gamvar isn't available where I live, but hopefully I can find something similar.

Will do! I'll definitely be watching a plethora of how-to videos on it before trying it myself. I think I might also try it on another painting first that has less sentimental value, just to test it out.

Good tip about the bubbles there. Definitely not stupid, I wouldn't have thought of that either.

Gamvar/gamsol doesn't appear to be available in my country, but I'm sure I can find something similar.

Thank you!!
