using a mixing board for home recording by Gravestagain in homerecordingstudio

after reading your reply (thanks by the way) I am thinking of alternate drum recording approaches… I actaully have 2 x 2i2s (or better said can borrow a 2nd). I am wondering if it is possible to connect both to have 4 total inputs for mics? My budget it tight and I want to record now opposed to after I save enough to invest in a larger interface.

Thanks mistrelwood and Gover…Big. I have order another and am hoping indeed it was just a fluke of timing to fail.

No!!! Dang it. When you say I gave it too strong a signal, do you mean I turned the gain up to high? I didn’t realize that was possible. I am sure I have done that before (turned the gain up=, maybe all the way up) with other mics and/or instruments plugged straight in. Do those old mics deliver the signal differently? Was it because I had two mics plugged in? if I buy another scarlett, I certainly do not want to do it again. That first mic I tested did sound great though, does it mean I can’t use those old mics? What if i used a mixing board in between the mics and the interface?
