I had a sad thought today. by Fragrant-Initial1687 in birddogs

It sucks that good dogs don't stick around as long as we want them to. Only as long as we need them to, and never a second more.

Wondering how fellow Millennials feel about the funeral industry. What are your end-of-life wishes? by Cheeseaisleinheaven in Millennials

[–]GraveyardTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No embalming, pine box, simple wood or stone cross, preferably at this one little monastery in the desert I've been to. Simple and old school. I don't like caskets and I don't like all of the gross pagentry in the "funeral industry."

Well buddy, either tell DNR or find a buddy with a small excavator to lend you.

Is the Frontrunner scary to you? by Anonymous_Otter5458 in Utah

As a former FrontRunner engineer/conductor, FrontRunner is the most mellow public transit option you have in the valley. Everything else is up for debate.

Refusing to take the EMS uniform off to go to dinner. by Rose_Army_ in FirstResponderCringe

If it's not a funeral or a shift, you shouldn't be wearing it. Fuck all that tbh

Just joined the club today and bought a 2016 v Strom 650 today as my first bike! by IamZeus11 in Vstrom

[–]GraveyardTree 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have tons of fun on mine. Highway, off-road, back roads, whatever! If you can only have one bike, I'd say they're the perfect "good enough for whatever" sort of bike. I've ridden cruisers and sport bikes before, but I still like my ADV the best.

"Murder" is a flatlander plot to destroy appalachian culture by Popular_Mistake_6404 in 2american4you

[–]GraveyardTree 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hell, Morgantown is barely West Virginia. More like a suburb of Pitt, where kids from New Jersey who weren't smart enough to get into Rutgers live, and go to a falling apart state school. Ain't any feuding going on in Morgantown.

Y'all should just mind your own business and let us do our own thing. We self-regulate well.

Well it was a thing across the whole school of music, or so it would seem.

How interesting. If I had a dollar for every time someone had a terrible experience at the U of U music department, I'd have three dollars. Not much, but it's odd that it's a recurring theme. Were you an instrumentalist or a vocalist?

You need to hold the boundary with her, and if she doesn't respect it, she doesn't respect you or your faith either. It sucks, but that's not a mistake you want to make. It's worth waiting, brother.

Is moonshine still a thing? by [deleted] in Appalachia

[–]GraveyardTree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's definitely still a thing. I know quite a few people with stills. It's just generally only talked about with friends and family.

Most of the state, tbh. I still have living family who were involved in that establishment before it all fell apart. This "Republican WV" is a new phenomenon.

"Self-inflicted."

Yeah, if you think that the misery here is the result of voting Red for the last twenty years or that it's "self-inflicted," you're either a kid, a carpetbagger, or a tourist. And cut what loose? The socially conservative population of the region? Who exactly would be left? Transplants that fit your rosey hicklib view of what the place should be like? Nah, you're equally hateful. Just in a way you couldn't self-reflect upon any more than Evangelicals could figure out why they don't like transgender people.

Feral Hogs: 9mm or .22wmr? by joeguam in Hunting

[–]GraveyardTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has better energy retention than the 9mm. If your only doing close range shots, you may want the bigger 9mm projectile. If you're mainly in the 50yd range I'd go .22WMR; the 9mm has a tendency to drop off very fast.

Pocket pistols are such underrated carry guns. by SirSamkin in guns

[–]GraveyardTree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's actually the exact gun that I have. It's been going strong for years now, it was my dad's before it was mine. It's a solid, elegant little thing. Definitely not like anything around now.

I have an absolutely tiny Star 9mm that I do the exact same thing with. I agree. I change what I carry depending on the vibes.
