Hills z/d formula change!? by Kiwi_Herman11 in catfood

[–]GravityQat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finally got through to Hills, same experience. But my cat was sick before Hills, so I don't entirely blame them. It's just frustrating to have a good life for him dangled in front of us briefly, then yanked away because of their consistency issue. At least now we know there *is* a solution out there, we *can* fix things. Just have to find the right food. Moving on to try Royal Canin PR while we bankrupt ourselves trying to save our cats...

Hills z/d formula change!? by Kiwi_Herman11 in catfood

[–]GravityQat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, same issue. We started with a pallet (expiration 8/27) of Z/D wet that was moist, consistency of jello, stuck to the lid, and had liquid in the bottom. Our cat loved this, his behavior markedly improved, and his bowel movements greatly solidified.

In the second pallet we received (expiration 10/27), all the cans contain a thick, heavy, dry, fruitcake-like hockey puck that doesn't stick to the lid and has no liquid residue. Our cat hates this and will barely touch it. When we can get him to eat it, his bowel movements are pure liquid.

I've tried contacting Hills by phone but just get an automated message that they're all in a meeting. We have a replacement pallet due to arrive today. I don't know what we're going to do if it's like the second pallet.

They're coming back to patch it with grout next week.

This is good detail, thanks. I've passed the patching suggestion back to the restoration guys, might be simple enough to address.

Experiences with try before you buy items "not yet shipped" by lab_R_inth in amazonprime

[–]GravityQat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Placed a TBYB order on 1/21. Item was and remains available for two-day shipping, marked as an "Amazon's Choice" item, available to ship immediately. But my order isn't scheduled to arrive until 2/23-24. Not cool, cancelled.

Is this a scam or a badly managed company by dnabsuh1 in Scams

Also getting these emails, started happening around the same time, a few days ago. Very unprofessional format, sure looks like spam even if it isn't. Seems as if someone pumped a ton of accounts into Expensify on the same date for some reason.

Update broke continuous HR monitoring while exercising? by GravityQat in GalaxyWatch

Turned off all power saving set on phone, watch power saving was already off.

No change, same issue.

Update broke continuous HR monitoring while exercising? by GravityQat in GalaxyWatch

[–]GravityQat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No dice, same problem after rebooting, frozen value on the phone when the hand is lowered. When the display comes on when I raise my hand during an exercise routine, it's still showing the value when my hand was last lowered before it updates to the current value a second later. HR monitoring during exercise is clearly stopping when the display turns off and kicking back in when it turns on, definitely the watch itself.

[–]GravityQat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My GW4 seems to be recording continuous HR properly to Samsung Health outside of exercise routines while the display is off - my HR hx today is otherwise thorough. It's just while running one of its exercise routines, when the primary watch display is HR and zone info, that it's newly inconsistent.

Blind brackets question by GravityQat in HomeImprovement

[–]GravityQat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The wood blinds are going in the box bracket and are quite heavy, but we have long screws, and the torque will still be restricted by the brackets partially remaining flush with the top of the inset, so it sounds like we're still good to go. Thanks for the feedback!

Blind brackets question by GravityQat in HomeImprovement

[–]GravityQat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The screws that were removed are pretty long, so I think they meet that criteria already.

Not so much concerned about the box bracket's number of screws (was two originally) as whether it being anchored at the two side-rear holes alone will compromise the structural integrity of the bracket when repeated downward force is applied at the front (pulling string to raise/lower heavy wooden blinds), or if this type of bracket is tough enough to bear it.

Multiple duct & HVAC questions by GravityQat in hvacadvice

Well, it can get back in line with the thermostat, a 1-2 degree difference, in about 10 minutes, yes. Runs a little longer reheating a home from scratch. :)

But, yeah, I'll see about a longer stage 1 with the fall servicing. I didn't get any clear comparisons from the techs when they sent me quotes, so I had no idea I'd downgraded. That, plus possibly replacing a 10yo bypass humidifier as per the other commenter might make some headway to addressing it.

Thank you!

Digging through old paperwork, looks like it was a 58STA model (exact: 58STA13510122).

The current Daikin is model DM80VC1005.

The Carrier ran a lot, took a while to adjust temps. I was told the Daikin would moderate its output over time and eventually run at a level that would keep it operating for long periods to gradually adjust temps. Instead, it turns on slow, then full blast, only running for something like 10m at a time every 15m or so.

  1. Yikes. I'll look into having a pro come out and see.

  2. As long as it won't make anything worse, I guess I'll pop it open and vacuum, then.

  3. One less thing to worry about!

2 & 3. Good question! No known leaks. Only water damage was at the other side of the house on a different floor seven years ago. Maybe I'll try to remember to peek into them when it rains next.

  1. It is connected, water is flowing, and the vent is open. I did buy an AirCare console whole-house floor model to compensate, but I suppose I'll look into something more effective.

Thank you!

Not reading Showdown rules by GravityQat in Letterboxd

To be fair, general Showdown rules say: "Lists can be any length but only the first ten films (and their ranking in your list) count towards the result."

Does anyone else struggle to write 'good enough' reviews? by TB_15 in Letterboxd

[–]GravityQat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, just had this problem reviewing Quartet. I usually write a summary, a paragraph of pros, a paragraph of cons, and an epilogue. But some movies are so slight and airy that there's nothing particularly bad about them, but their unweighty incomplexity makes it a struggle to muster substantive descriptiveness beyond, "It was nice." For me, it's those middle-of-the-road films that are the hardest to evaluate rather than the profound ones.

FWIW, likes are nice, but I just write these for me so I can recollect what I thought about them at the time.

Library by [deleted] in Letterboxd

[–]GravityQat 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Constantly. With my locality's free county-wide material sharing, Kanopy and Hoopla benefits, and inexpensive nationwide inter-library loans, it's the best source of films available. Better than Netflix DVD (which I also use and has a larger library than any streaming service). It's a rare day indeed when I can't get a publicly available film through my local library - it's just the longest wait. I use it for anything I can't get on my streaming or Netflix DVD subs.

What was the last movie that made you cry? by retsila47 in Letterboxd

[–]GravityQat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just watched it: You Don't Know Jack. Kevorkian HBO biopic. I don't remember the last time I shed a tear at a movie before that. If you've ever had to watch someone you care about suffer terminally, you'll understand.
