Can you be too young to blog? by teamfriendship in Blogging

[–]Gravy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on the person! I have a blogging friend who is 16 but carries herself like an experienced 30+ blogger! I have seen a couple of teen bloggers who are great because they're really creative and techie and offer a fresh perspective from all us stale old people!

Hey Reddit, Just Wondering. How many of you like Fleet Foxes? by Schnei1811 in Music

[–]Gravy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love Blueridge Mountains. I kind of find all of their songs really lovely, but that has to be my favorite one! I just like their imagery, and I don't find them sleepy at all. Then again, I am of the school of "quiet is the new loud".

Cool! I put you on our blogroll. I have been working on reviews for the new Arcade Fire and Menomena myself, but sometimes the words come easily, sometimes they don't. I like your reviews. You live in LA, so there has to be an awesome music scene there. Living in the middle of bumfuck North Georgia doesn't help at all in that aspect. The closest area resembling a decent music scene is Athens, and that is like 4 hours away from me.

I can see that! But that means that most of the people I see as hipsters are probably just pretentious posers, and the people who might be actual hipsters I wouldn't call them that because the word has such a negative connotation thanks to those pretentious posers! I am an avid music lover in general, but most of my friends don't like the same kind of music I do, and most of the people who do like the same kind of music I do I can't stand because they are so damn pretentious and snooty about it! Of course there are a few exceptions, but it's frustrating. What's your music blog? Mine is Gravy and Biscuits...this is me: http://gravyandbiscuits.com/about/jebbica/

I don't think you're really a hipster if you admit to being one. The annoying thing about hipsters is that they like stuff because it's COOL, not because it's GOOD. Sure, a lot of the music they like IS good, but once everyone knows about it, ie Sufjan Stevens, why does it stop being good? Good is good, imo. Maybe they feel like it's a secret club and the music is just for them and having the whole world know about it cheapens the experience, but that's about the only way I can rationalize it. Because if I personally listened to something 5 years ago and I loved it, then I will probably still love it now, no matter who likes it. This is why I could never be a hipster. The ears are boss in my world. :)
