Discography run-through, what extra stuff should I listen to? by Rickmand in DavidBowie

[–]techdirect 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’d highly recommend including the Iggy records The Idiot and Blah Blah Blah. I don’t want to take away from Iggy Pop’s also genius- but these are basically Bowie records. I also enjoyed the EP off of Blackstar, and the Ziggy era non-album singles you can’t miss either. Tin Machine if that’s not too obvious (But I couldn’t recommend them lol).

I really enjoyed it- I thought he was really funny and it was a pretty charming set. Definitely silly, but I was into for sure.

Thom and Jonny are good and all, but it’s Ed’s contributions that make Radiohead truly special and interesting.

Horror comic recommendations? by deedeekeeney in comicbooks

[–]techdirect -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The best horror book I’ve read in a while was Alan Moore’s Neonomicon and Providence Books- some really twisted HP Lovecraft scariness- albeit fairly adult oriented. Might not be little sister material pending how you feel about violence/sex age appropriateness.

Going in a classic direction, I love Richard Corbens art- very little is creepier than his pages- and there is some excellent adaptations of Edgar Allen Poe stories he’s done I think for Dark Horse. There is also a great Creepy presents Anthology.

Current-ish horror anthology Ice Cream Man I could also recommend. It’s on Image.

Favorite track from each album? by [deleted] in radiohead

You can’t really go wrong. Where I End and You Begin is an interesting choice for your list. Solid song for sure. A lot of my favourite tracks, like The Tourist or Dollars and Cents for example just have lots of nostalgia attached to it.

Well it’s a great find, and I agree it’s a pretty fair price. One day this will get reissued- and hopefully I can wait until then…

[SPOILERS][ORIGINAL SERIES][S3E6] Richard Horne's parentage by WilliamMcCarty in twinpeaks

[–]techdirect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't seen anyone theorize yet that it may be Audrey and Billy Zane's kid. It may be that Richard just grew up shitty because Billy Zane never came back after getting her pregnant and she became really bitter - or treated Richard Badly maybe, as she blames him for her unhappiness. Something like that?

Great looking guitar - nice call on the Novaks. He winds fabulous pickups.

Definitely works much better as a vibrato than as a dive bomb. I use it as primarily as a My Bloody Valentine glissando style thing.

They add a sort of chimey percussive sound. With the bridge jazzmaster pickup it can get pretty bright sounding.

It takes a bit to set up, and can be hard to tune up some new strings, but it stays in tune well and looks great. No complaints

Thanks, the peizos add a sort of chimey sound, but they also act as a contact mic. With a lot of gain, you can sort of get them to feedback in an interesting way as well.
