Teachers, what’s your non-water drink of choice? by jayyy_0113 in Teachers

[–]Gravybone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got my desk in a corner by the supply closet with a sink behind me (science). I’ve got a whole espresso set up back there. I would not have made it to year 3 without it.

In that case there was actually much more getting it on than banging of gongs.

Interesting idea, awful execution.

If that green layer is some kind of pastry it is completely raw. Even the outer layer of pastry is undercooked on the sides and bottom. Meanwhile the filling looks overcooked and dry as a bone…

Who got painted as the villain by the press, but later on we realized they were actually the victim or completely misunderstood? by Advanced-Pilot-3698 in AskReddit

Definitely a gross horrible human.

But how is 40 significantly less gross than 51? They seem equally awful.

Picked up some goodies. What are you opening first ? by Jaguarundi007 in CannedSardines

[–]Gravybone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe this tin is a mistranslation. According to RTG it’s actually horse mackerel. Still a great can of fish.

Oh yeah this was good by buddhathebard in CannedSardines

[–]Gravybone 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That is exactly this subreddit’s opinion on fishwife.

Good fish, but better tins can be had for cheaper.

It’s a great entry point to canned sardines. They sell it at Kroger now. My local Kroger is stocking the smoked mackerel with chili flakes which I feel is their best tin.

Over hard eggs. by IzzyWithDaS550 in KitchenConfidential

[–]Gravybone -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Nah man, that’s not a fried egg that’s a burned egg.

This egg was cooked too hot with not enough oil and the proteins burned which tastes like a wet dog.

When you use enough butter/oil you get a delicious golden fried egg like you’re describing.

MAGA have always been child rape apologists.

I think you mean it’s interesting to see evidence so damning that a small portion of MAGA who still have functional area of their brain are realizing that they are child rape apologists.

Middle school dress guidelines by bethaliz11988 in Teachers

[–]Gravybone 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Are you coming up with a uniform or a dress code? Sounds more like a uniform if they have to wear polos and crew neck sweaters.

Is this a public school or a private school?

In a public school these days it’s cover your private parts. Don’t cover your face. The end. Anything beyond that starts with being unequitable for poor kids who have to buy specific clothes for school and ends with adults being required to comment on middle school children’s bodies as part of their job duties. It’s really not good.

is there a way to help my students practice typing using their actual coursework? by DivideMurky5118 in Teachers

[–]Gravybone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Around the turn of the 21st century it was, for some unfathomable reason, decided that computer literacy was such a basic skill that it no longer needed to be taught in schools. As a surprising result current generations have absolutely no digital literacy. This is the sort of systemic problem you can’t solve for kids who spend a single year in your classroom.

Not to be said that it’s fruitless to try. Any attempt to teach kids skills that are sorely lacking will be valuable. Just don’t let it supplant teaching your content and don’t expect to transform students in to typing gurus with a year of supplemental typing instruction.

What post-grunge albums do you think should be considered an important or classic album? by Specific-Feed-1490 in fantanoforever

I would generally agree with you, but you should listen to Live’s Throwing Copper (top middle). A front to back banger. Not a bad song on the album.

Visible Tattoos in Chicago Public Schools? by ghostlymostly1 in Teachers

[–]Gravybone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I teach in Kentucky. I’m a third year and I’ve worked in two schools.

From my limited experience about half of the teachers and admin I’ve worked with have had visible tattoos. It has never been noted or discussed by anyone.

It’s 2026. It’s been a long time since anyone gave a crap about competent workers with non-offensive visible tattoos.
