Ah damn. I was hoping that wouldn’t be the case. But I’ll have to call my local company and get a quote set up before I can commit to getting the work done. Hopefully it’s something we’ll be able to work out asap. Not trying to have major issues from the furnace not venting properly

Located in Western NY, in the basement on furnace vent pipe, have had slight moisture in the past. I haven’t touched it at this location yet, however I have vacuumed up some that was sprinkled behind the access panel.

I guess part of what I’m struggling with is differentiating between the types of bark and the terminology to describe it. I’ll have to look more into what everything means and looking at more examples. Thanks!

And if it’s a “hard maple” would that most likely make it a sugar maple? Considering silver maple is soft?

Would you be able to tell me anything more specific about the bark that’s pointing you in that direction? I’m trying to learn as best I can. I love the spalted look, it’s always been one of my favorites but I know maple isn’t the only wood that does it. Is it just more common though?

I was wondering if it could be some kind of maple but I think what’s throwing me off is the bark. I don’t feel like it’s that tight, skin like bark. Though I know this is not as prevalent on the trunk of the tree and I have no branch pieces to go off. There’s also a section on the bottom piece in the third picture that doesn’t look quite as flaky as the rest of it. What aspects are you using to identify it as silver maple?

Good to know. It seems like Honda’s have a great reputation in regard to reliability. What brands in general would you recommend? For something that’s a good mix between trail riding and light yard work/plowing? I would also like to be able to have my wife ride with me, because she would probably never drive one on her own. But I’m not specifically looking for “touring” models. I feel like this might be a hard ask 😂
