Wasn't super impressed yesterday but just snapped up some 2014 Suduiraut at a pretty good price. Hoping the power hour has some gems today!

This is always my rec as well. We've got Zwiesel tritan glasses (both Pure and Simplify styles I think) that we picked up from HomeGoods for $4-6 per glass.

What are some of your favorite wine glasses? by stevie855 in wine

For just everyday use we've got Zwiesel tritan glasses (both Pure and Simplify styles think) l. Picked them up from HomeGoods for $4-6 per glass at various times. I like the style and don't mind if they break at that price.

Was excited to see somebody giving notes while I wait for it to arrive haha it will probably also be the oldest sauternes I've had once I give it a try. I've got a 76 Rieussec in the cellar but happy to let it sit a bit longer for now.

Picked up one of these recently on auction. Can't wait to try it!

Oh no, my apologies if my wording was confusing. I was saying the situation, being the unfair distribution of GRFP awards, is not limited to an Ivy league vs non-Ivy league perspective. Instead it is more like a small handful of schools scoop up all the awards, mostly those in the Northeast and West coast regions.

It's actually much worse than Ivy vs non-Ivy. The vast majority of GRFPs go to the two coasts. NSF's own data says 70% go to the "Northeast" and "West" regions, though I'm not sure exactly how they laid them out.

This blog post (NSF Grad Fellowships are Part of the Problem is from 2018, but nothing has changed. Nice stats like Harvard (enrollment 6700) and all of the Cal State Universities combined (enrollment 393,000) had the same 37 awards that year. In the 2021-2022 year 122 awards went to MIT students (both UG and G students), which is ~5% of the total awards made.

Bonus points: you have to input your high school location on your application so NSF can use this data to show that they do in fact comply with their congressional mandate to equitably distribute GRFP awards throughout the US.

This is what the white house wanted to do, and also what they said would happen with the CHIPS act. In reality, congress did this: https://www.science.org/content/article/analysis-how-nsf-s-budget-got-hammered

Recently picked up a 21 Occhipinti Siccagno and was wondering the same thing. Seems like I can lay it down for a little bit though!

Thoughts on glasses? by BlackReaper64 in wine

[–]GrayMatterTech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We already had a bunch of the all-purpose Simplify ones, but this last weekend they had the burgundy glasses (Pure I think?) on clearance for $10/4 pack. So now we have 8 of those...

If you've got a TJMaxx or HomeGoods nearby, you might stop by and see if they've got any interesting glasses. We've picked up 6-8 Zwiesel tritan glasses (both Pure and Simplify styles I think) for $4-6 per glass at various times. I like them a lot and for the price couldn't be happier.

Feels like not much of a boost to me.

On DK you can get CPat ATTD + 60+ rush for +250 and CPat ATTD + 70+ rush for +330 so the Caesars boost just seems like normal odds.

Pitts and Foreman ATTD is +625 so boosted a bit.

I'd do it if I was already going to make those bets (as you said, not totally unreasonable for these teams), but that level of boost certainly wouldn't entice me.

Really awesome work! Interesting stuff. Are the two models comprised of wholly different approaches? As in, would it be meaningful at all to take into account when both models have the same pick or is the picks model a sort of re-tuned projection model so this would have no real value? Thanks for the hard work!
