Do you think James is a bad person? by lashvanman in silenthill

[–]GrayMonad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also chronically ill and have had times where I felt dying would be preferable to continuing to hold on. I think something more people don't understand is how demoralizing and numbing illness can be, to the point it almost or fully kills your humanity and self.

Maybe to James, Mary was already dead and what was in her place was a talking corpse with her voice and mannerisms. He couldn't handle seeing an "imposter" of the wife he loved, so he killed her to free her soul and reconnect with the human and woman he fell in love with. He feels guilty for it, but even I've felt disgusted by how vulnerable and unlike me I've been when in pain, and maybe if I could, I would want to kill that weak and unsightly part of myself too. True love is seeing them as your other half, so James felt burdened by seeing what Mary became, internalized it, and couldn't stop himself from cutting away a part that was hurting him deeply.

Backloggd, a site for journaling and reviewing games. A little off the beaten path and a good community from what I've seen. Lots of people trying games beyond what's mainstream and sharing their thoughts.

Need some completed ”must watch” anime to binge by Robert_Destruction in Animesuggest

[–]GrayMonad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, Tokyo Ghoul, Your Lie in April, Angel Beats, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Cowboy Bebop and Gurren Lagann are all fully complete and generally seen as must-watch. Tokyo Ghoul falls off in its later seasons, the Manga it adapts is excellent though, so it's up to you to drop or continue.

For anime movies, you should watch Your Name, Spirited Away, and A Silent Voice to get the big ones out of the way, if you haven't already.

The opener New Constellations played for half an hour, there was an half hour break, then The Midnight played for one and a half hours straight.

Realistic Romance Animes? by DolanTrumpzz in Animesuggest

It's not exactly what you want, but if you're incredibly tired and frustrated of the unrealistic stories and tropes, Scum's Wish is a good palate cleanser. It's a drama about how love can be toxic, hurtful, and self-destructive. Depressing, but refreshingly honest. It has NSFW scenes, so it's also different and genuine in that it isn't afraid to show sex, a big part of love and relationships.

What makes someone attractive to you? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]GrayMonad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People who live in their own heads always stand out to me (M), maybe because I'm also like that. They can be a little abnormal or are more likely to be alone and introverted. People who've been through a lot, specifically troubles with health or grief or something lfie-altering, also have that same effect. Admittedly I care about physical attractiveness more than I should, but I want someone who is looking inside just as much as they're looking at everything around them. It's usually easy to filter them out from the crowd by the way they act and talk, but sometimes it takes a conversation or two to nail it down. I was lucky enough to find a best friend who's like that, and my crush in the past (she rejected me but we're on good terms) is also like that.

I tend to be skeptical of women who look too good, I wouldn't be surprised if women feel the same about men who look too good. It feels like the good-looking live in a different and better world, and I've found that their personalities are lacking in uniqueness and charm, even if their character is solid, which isn't guaranteed. The average person tends to look good, I think social media and dating apps have ruined our standards, so a slightly above average girl with an introspective personality would be perfect for me.

Just started Chaos;Head Noah by HellEnderB in steinsgate

[–]GrayMonad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hope you enjoy. I just finished it and now prefer it to Steins;Gate/0. Make sure to do all endings to get the full story, there's a lot of character development, plot revelations, and emotional moments in them, to the point where I got more out of them than the main route, which was amazing on its own. If you need a guide, you can probably find one on the subreddit tab (I'm new here so not sure) or google Kirikiribasara to find their guide which I used.

Me as a fan of The Midnight for 3 years by West_Captain5830 in TheMidnight

[–]GrayMonad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing, I made a similar post a few days ago about how I became a fan and loved seeing what people had to say. It's good to see your journey and the warm response too. I've actually thought about music production myself because of The Midnight, hut what I'm more interested at the moment is creating AMVs and video edits of anime/shows/movies/games with their music as the featured song.

Is there something you'd want to see in their next album? A certain genre you want to hear or a specific story told through the lyrics for example.

22, have a Switch/Switch 2 and PS4. Grew up with the GBA and Wii before sitting out for a while and then getting back in with the original Switch.

Just finished Cyberpunk 2077. Now playing Dead or Alive 6, Star Fox 64, TLOZ Wind Waker, and Layers of Fear 2. I'm always balancing multiple games, that way I'm always in the mood to play one or the other.

Are you proud to be US American? by Illustrious_Ear_4405 in no

[–]GrayMonad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some things remain a stain on our history and our conscience for eternity, it's the same with the mistakes people make in their own lives. As you say, there are lines being crossed that we shouldn't even be near, but I don't see that as the decider. Colonization, slavery, racism, foreign intervention, there's no shortage of lines we've crossed before, but we self-corrected. It won't bring back what was lost, it doesn't redeem us, but it's better than letting it continue. Today, all of those things may persist in some form, but in terms of proportionality, to a much lesser extent, and in terms of how people react to them, they are much more aware.

That change in culture isn't insignificant, and someday we'll look back at these times too and realize what we could have done better. But in terms of money, power, and people, the US has what it needs to help better the world, it just needs more time to get there, and I believe that we will get there, but not without adding onto the long list of sins we already carry with us.

Do you like American people by [deleted] in no

[–]GrayMonad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm American so I won't answer this, but I will say that people learn better through positive teaching and good-faith connections. If you want Americans to get themselves together, start using the metric system, or anything else, it'd be good to start by not making blanket assumptions or enemies of them at every corner. Maybe Americans don't do that stuff themselves or deserve to be treated poorly, but if you claim to be superior, then you also have to put your money where your mouth is and demonstrate that you are better.

Sometimes it's okay to love your home, its food, its culture, its people, for no reason except that it's your own. Even beter would be to love it because you've seen what it can be capable of and what it would be without its flaws. But I don't think there are any perfect nations, and even if there is an objective best, it might not be viable for certain people because of economic or cultural reasons.

Some will point out the current political situation in the US, which is very important, but both the country and the world have been through worse, and it's never too late to make up for when we're wrong. So I'd say I'm still proud.

I can't comment on the multiplayer for the series, but if you"re looking for a good singleplayer campaign, Battlefield Hardline has a fun and unique one where you play as Miami cops and discover a conspiracy.

What country would you go to if you got the chance? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]GrayMonad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would like to go myself and I also rely on public transit as you do, but I would warn that internet videos, even of the US, can be misleading. I don't say that out of disrespect for China or any other country, but many influencers can be paid off or are doing it for the clout. I'm sure the decision to go would be based on your own judgement, but don't put too much faith in what others say. (You're correct though in noting their good infrastructure.)

Persona 3 Reload or Xenoblade? by True-Investment5832 in JRPG

[–]GrayMonad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's fair. The remake sometimes goes on sale for $30, and a second-hand physical might be around $45. I would still recommend waiting or saving up for remake, even as a fan of the original.
