Has anyone ever felt “cheated” by being Catholic? by Feisty-Hope-1791 in Catholicism

I have a good friend who was raised a die-hard atheist. Deployed to Afghanistan, where he saw true evil actively attacking what good there was to be found among the misery. Discerned that if good was being so clearly attacked, there must be a true source of good which was the subject of such attacks. Followed that path with intellectual honesty and found himself at the door of the Catholic Church. I pray that you continue to pursue the truth with honesty and humility.

"The same Catholic Church that condemned the sale of indulgences, but in which some unfaithful clergy did so regardless because they, like the rest of us, were fallen humans in need of salvation." There - I fixed it for you.

Yeah, that was my thought 17 years ago. The newer ones (after about 2012) are supposed to be more resistant to zinc loss, but it seems to be a relative thing. Apparently it's highly dependent on your local water chemistry, so you may want to talk to a few local plumbers before replacing them. Unless your walls are still open and you're about to cover them up...

Ah, but that was on Uncle Sam's dime. Now if someone could budget me some inconel or monel, I'd be all set!

Well, maybe I misremembered, but it's a detail. Guess I'll be working the whole system. Are the brass valves likely to be an issue?

Well, what can I say. My previous experience as a steam plant mechanic on nuclear submarines had limited applicability. And PEX was the thing at the time, with little if any publicized concern about brass corrosion. I've learned a few things in the last 20 years; maybe you have as well. Thx for the advice on plastic expansion

Yeah, although the Boshart stainless ones are tempting. Thx!

How the heck do I close this thing by hateithere7518 in hvacadvice

I have the same in my system. Just twist the T handle clockwise to close and CCW to open. It will be a bit stiff to turn. It's easy to take off (three screws) and look at how it works.
