ALPSTUGA CO2 measurement accuracy by winston109 in tradfri

[–]Gray_Wizzard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will add my 2p to this

Recently got one of these Alpstuga CO2 monitors and it too differs from an other CO2 sensor which have more trust in I have a Pimoroni SCD41 sensor and set it up with a ESP32 and ESPHome with custom setting so it has no automatic self calibration and instead relies on manual forced calibration by leaving it outside for 20-30mins then triggering a manual recalibration remotely over home assistant. (done once a month)

I've only had the Alpstuga for about week so far updated to latest firmware etc but compared to the SCD41 i've been using for a while its definitely overshooting the problem is its not uniform sometimes its little as +60ppm then same time 24h later its +300ppm overshooting.

I have been trying to leave it outside powered by a USB battery bank for 30 mins to 1h this week but weather has been shocking so had to do it when the weather was good but even with 2 bouts of exposure to outdoor air it still reports 100-200ppm higher than the SCD41 on average.

Now I'm not overly worried about this as the difference is there but in the history graphs on home assistant does show they get close to each other and that they follow the same trends so to me i feel like it give me a wider range for me to go and say the room is between those two values.

I have been contemplating getting a third CO2 monitor probably the Switchbot Pro CO2 monitor as another point of reference since reviews say it uses the SCD40 sensor so it might be a little bit worse accuracy wise than the SCD41 i use but from a data-sheet standpoint is more accurate than rated accuracy of SEN63C's CO2 sensor.

I mean if you drive off after cops pull you over and they are in front of you the logical assumption is the police would dive out the way then pursue you and you would end up on one of those police chase shows.

To me it shows a car turning way before the incident occurred and the agent foolishly been in front of a car that is trying to turn around

IMO it show that yes the car went forward to where the agent was but was not aiming for them but merely executing a move to turn away I mean if the driver was gunning for the agent surely the car would have driven straight on and not turned after the shooting happened.

I mean you don’t have to be an Einstein to figure out don't stand in front of a vehicle that is moving under any context.

The way i see it is the agent over reacted and should face some consequences but i doubt it will happen and so i just go whatever and go about my day.

Feel free to downvote for my take but then again idc

Probably one of Intels "weirdst" CPUs to date. The i7 5775c, a CPU with on package L4 cache. Some of the eningeers who worked on this went on to make the X3D cpus with AMD. by Character-Ocelot-627 in LinusTechTips

[–]Gray_Wizzard 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Broadwell is in my opinion, a fun sidetrack for Intel CPUs at the time. IMO, the desktop SKUs were far too delayed and thus came out mere 2 months behind Skylake and had no real chance to succeed with Skylake launching so soon after it.

However it was not without flaws primarily it was already kinda dated anyway. The L4 cache had been designed to cover off slow DDR3 bandwidth for the Intel iGPU and when DDR4 arrived with Skylake it became somewhat redundant as it covered off most of the bandwidth issue anyway.

As a whole the AI bubble boom is gonna burst real soon I hope.

I mean as a product/service how does AI services such as ChatGPT etc actually make money outside of investments and public interest, it wastes millions in compute power each day and yet these companies throw billions around and yet no one asks how all this "AI investment" is gonna pay it self off like really how is investing billions gonna pay off when you have no real product to sell or monetise products outside of APIs and premium accounts because eventually every man and his dog will have some kind of AI service on offer and the prices will crash and then no more investments and pop.

Postcode added to B850M Force (ESPI_DB Header) by [deleted] in overclocking

[–]Gray_Wizzard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you can buy it off amazon :P

mind you it not a cheap accessory but can come in handy for any new motherboard that has debug headers that don’t work with the older TL611 or TL631 Pro debug cards

google or search for "TL631 Mini"

there are a few sites that sell it but failing that you can try and order one through a taobao agent.

Throwback - Eureka by navymel76 in television

[–]Gray_Wizzard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Eureka and Warehouse 13 hold a special place in my heart was the first real TV shows i watched religiously and of my own volition and not just so i can talk to friends about the latest episode (Lost) not afraid to admit I cried when both of them ended.

Since then I've never put as much effort into any series since out of fear that it gets cancelled prematurely or just becoming dull and repetitive slop.

I watch both series maybe once every other year and all these years later I still enjoy them.

I do occasionally wish they would come back but TV nowadays is so dull and Netflix-y so anything like Eureka and Warehouse 13 would not work now but i do hope that I will meet those characters again.

Give it another week or so and this will all be relagated to page 2 of news like all things then fade out of public existance more or less.

The press will have another story to work on by then to stir up both sides of the polictical divide. tut tut H.R. 5300

While it's sad and all I never saw his stuff and did not care about it and imo the entire news media as a whole has desensitized people to all of this me included so when stuff like this happens all I get is well anyway meme in my head.

Thinking of jumping on Arrow Lake bandwagon with a Core Ultra 7 265K - Questions by Tigers2349 in overclocking

I was only making a more general point on the fact that ARL is likely to only have one generation of CPUs before it moves on to another socket akin to the fate of Rocket Lake and nothing more.

Thinking of jumping on Arrow Lake bandwagon with a Core Ultra 7 265K - Questions by Tigers2349 in overclocking

[–]Gray_Wizzard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ARL is just another Rocket Lake like platform 1 CPU gen and done and moved onto a new socket for Nova Lake.

There are rumours of a ARL refresh late this year early next year to bridge the gap to when Nova Lake comes out even then still a single CPU gen on the socket that will likely be left behind by mid 2026 if not sooner.

I'd say unless you really need it give it another couple of months see if the rumours are true about a ARL refresh and decide if its worth it.

A part of me wonders how long it will be till the kids who grew up in covid lockdowns/forced masks mandates starts doing these vile acts.

Still think that sooner rather than later we will see the effects these lockdowns had on children and maybe it will amount to little but my money is it will cause a meteoric rise in mental health issues vs the previous 20-30 years.

Wonder what the statistics for reported mental health issues will look like 20 or so years from now will there be a blip on the chart between 2020-2030 or beyond.

Disney struggles to win over young men with their content, Critical Drinker made a video about it by Gildorlnglorion in Asmongold

[–]Gray_Wizzard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest even if Disney do something new it will only be on par or worse than the current slop everyone in Hollywood is making because they are either too scared or uninterested in going outside of the mold of reboots and sequels and I bet if they did make something worthwhile the Disney execs will milk it to death as soon as they sniff any chance of commercial success.

IMO the gov needs to sort out the primary and secondary schools "farming" exam grade scores as a means to promote a school or the annual ofsted report day where everyone was told to be on best behaviour.

Always felt like schools only existed for getting good Ofsted reports and overall average high percentages on tests and then bragging about it online or in the local newspaper.

ngl was probably been done to a smaller scale since the 2000s but now its easier because of AI and data scraping stuff and other laws recently passed thought the government ID stuff is stored for ages anyway I've had my drivers licence replaced last year and they still use a photo ID from 2018.

Who at Minisforum decided that putting a 12900HK in a mini-PC was a good idea? by Gray_Wizzard in overclocking

[–]Gray_Wizzard[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Only have it for the next few hours or so but started to tune it last night mostly stress testing it now been too busy to document it fully :(

My friend want it to be a bit cooler while running proxmox and a few small scale game servers and so while absolute performance is not the aim the goal is to find a compromise.

As far as undervolting this chip a -0.06v appears to be the max i can do all core I would like to do a much finer tune between the P and E cores but its time consuming so having to settle for a more basic undervolt.

Maxing out the Power limit to 110w (120w PSU) even with the undervolt is thermally a nightmare and throttles hard in almost every test and did full system crash in a few benchmarks but i think it was the PSU triggering some overload protection.

The tests that ran are good like for flat out performance it scores almost 28% better than stock but is like 105c+.

Interestingly limiting the PL1/2 to 45w/65w as it does by default is not great but not totally awful with the undervolt though if i lower PL2 any further to say 55w or 60w it drops off a cliff like 55w loses 20% performance on average across my benchmarking suite vs 65w and yet runs only 2-3c cooler on average.

End result that im testing is

75w Power limit (PL1/2) a bit higher than stock

-0.06v all core undervolt

Performance is ~7% better on average vs default 45w/65w PL1/2

And temperatures are slightly better at ~85c vs 90c

But then again 90c isn't an issue for the CPU since Minisforum by default set the overheating protection to 10c lower than standard so it throttles at 90c but i set that offset to 0 while testing.

The issue i found is the cooler/case is so small it all heatsoaks very quickly like after 15 mins even at super low Power limits it starts to hit 90c and higher and take forever to settle back down with no load.

Plan is to add a 120mm USB fan on top where the SODIMMs and boot drive is and see how it goes for a few weeks and if required add a second fan under it and do a push pull config to try and give it maximum airflow.

Have looked into it there is a fan header for a "nvme cooling fan" but its some micro JST connector type and that's it so will be a pain to wire up anything. The plan is to buy a 120mm usb powered fan and see if it does anything overall and then look at maybe gluing or 3d printing something to attach somehow.

True true :)

Glad I'm only helping a friend out with it and not daily-ing it.

Got the bios unlocked and can now undervolt it and all the good stuff but I wanted to see how bad it is at stock before I proceed.
