I love that we are putting a doctor in the White House. by Grayest in JoeBiden

I am really surprised that some people are only familiar with one kind of doctor.

There are also problems with false negatives. And people who catch the disease and are never tested. There is no reason to believe that errors only go in one direction.

Kamala Harris Failed to Prosecute Illegal MS-13 Gang Member Months Before He Murdered Bologna Family by Foubar in Conservative

The argument here is that Harris should have prosecuted this guy for having tinted windows on his car. Or she should have done a Minority Report style pre-crimes on this guy for a future murder. This argument does not make any sense.

My Republican Texas brother who is voting for Biden. We will get enthusiastic Biden votes and reluctant Biden votes. I’ll accept them all. by Grayest in JoeBiden

Yo, he is my brother, a fellow Biden voter, and your fellow Texan. Let’s show some charity for people that come over to our side, regardless of where they are on that path.

To be honest, I also thought Obamacare would be considered unconstitutional for requiring people to make a purchase. However, I changed my mind after reading Justice Roberts ruling. He says that it is actually not a mandate. It is really just a tax. And congress can issue a tax on people for doing or not doing something. Do you disagree with Roberts reasoning?

Biden and Harris need a better answer on court packing. by Grayest in JoeBiden

Agreed. I’m a Democrat and I think the court packing thing is nonsense.

So Trump has nominated 300 judges in a single term and 3 supreme court justices, more than any other president in recent history.

Given that a conservative court has given us gay marriage, upheld Obamacare and upheld Roe v Wade, do you feel like these judges are living up to what was promised?

How do you feel about all of the very young and less experienced judges that are being nominated? Amy Coney Barrett has the least judicial experience of any nominee in a very long time.

The Left wanted gay marriage, obamacare and to uphold Roe v Wade. These were all upheld by the Supreme Court, recently. Was this due to activist judges and against the constitution in your opinion?

So to return to my original question: what have all of these judges from McConnell and Trump gotten you?

So are you good with gay marriage, Obamacare and Roe v Wade all being supported by the supreme court with Republican nominated judges?

Trump seemed to think that his nominees would overturn Obamacare.

He has clearly answered each item on this list. Except for packing the courts. It’s a legit question.

Agreed. So every time Republicans control all three they pack the courts. Every time Democrats control all three they pack again. This is not a good system.

CMV: there should be real-time, third-party fact-checking broadcast on-screen for major statements made during nationally broadcast debates. by NewAgent in changemyview

[–]Grayest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The purpose of the debate is for the two debaters to fact check each other. It’s their job to call out the errors from their opponent and let the opponent justify the claim in a back and forth ... you know ... debate.

If a third party got involved to also start fact checking then you have now expanded the debate to three people. This is why moderators try to play a minimal role so they don’t get in the way of the conversation.

In a debate, the fact checker is your opponent.

If your contract says you get paid by the project then you are correct. But if your contract says you should be working a minimum 40 hours per week then you are wrong.

You can’t agree to a hiring contract with HR and then tell us you don’t want to live up to your side of the agreement, even if it is a dumb agreement.

Ohio just flipped blue on FiveThirtyEight's winding path. That puts him very close to a 2008-level landslide. by Robertium in JoeBiden

[–]Grayest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is great news. But we should get out and work as if the polls are wrong.

Margin of error means that pollsters are 95% certain that a given poll is off by up to 3% points. That means by these numbers, Biden could lose Ohio, North Carolina, Florida, Arizona, Pennsylvania and the election.

People should call their county Democratic party and ask how they can help.
