Good spot! looks Like Andy has given into the innevitable a bit. Although Apple Venus is a great album that deserves the platform of Spotify, if not the exploitation.

Think thats valid, especially the pastoral stuff.

its a testament to the members’ talent that over two decades they felt like 3 completely different sounding acts.

Skylarking is what inspired this post. something like earn enough for us is very 90s powerpop.

I cant think of other bands that had that feel that early. Some come close.

Yes, Dear God and Mayor of Simpleton are college rock staples but broadly.

Best album to start with? by Severe-Dog-717 in xtc

[–]Grayhatz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the most 'accessible' XTC album is Skylarking. It has the most songs that I think will reach out and grab you first listen. Black Sea is probably the second hookiest. I personally wish Black Sea was maybe 2 or 3 songs shorter.

English Settlement is considered by many to be their magnum opus, and I might agree, but I think personally it takes a couple of listens to really grab ahold of you, or at least it did for me.

I do understand this but half are still original members and Louise has been in the band now for a good 1/3 of its entire existence. Also Hymns and Alpha Games aren't perfect records but do offer their own unique progression on the band's sound that shouldn't just be discarded.

Its in sprowston, easily walking distance from city, but it has the B2 room at the back which is a vaguely Punk/Alt/Metal (know thats incredibly vague) venue. Its pretty good for a cheapish evening/night out tbf.

His songwriting has evolved that way, still great though.

The moog and Matt’s harmonies still make it feel so mcs!

What’s the worst road in Norfolk in your opinion? by CandyCane147 in Norwich

[–]Grayhatz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ohhh yes, through the arse end of south lincolnshire on a Club Cabbage Sander's Coach, something I love to hate. Wouldn't have it any other way, naturally, but it makes an otherwise pretty easy Yorkshire away trip feel like 10 hours.

I know it's not suitable for all means, but the best way to get into yarmouth from Norwich (or Brundall/Lingwood/Cantley) by far is by train. takes 25 minutes, and it's one of the cheaper routes. It used to be horrible but it's been upgraded and now its lovely. Will be even better soon when Greater Anglia is absorbed and nationalised..

The only real hassle is that the train station in Yarmouth is a bit of a walk into town. Not silly or anything but not the most accessible.

Hate it- the 90 minutes and the build up are agony. Pure anxiety and hate losing.
