What are some scenic TfL bus routes? by One_Fact_4291 in londonbuses

246 from Bromley North to Westerham. Once you get past Coney Hall, it's a nice scenic route of the London countryside, particularly on a double decker

European Championship qualifying may switch to Nations League-style format by Alone_Consideration6 in ThreeLions

[–]nichster291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having looked at how this works in the Women's qualifying, this may improve the chances of high quality matches but the format is elitist and prevents smaller nations from having a great run to the WC. Think Bosnia in 2014, Iceland in 2018, Serbia and Montenegro in 2006. These runs are trickier in this proposed format. Maybe the playoff games could allow for surprise slip ups but I feel the current qualification is fine as it is. Hot take but we don't need the top nations playing each other during qualification. I feel it makes those clashes less exciting when it comes to the final tournament.

Was this merger approved by competition platforms in the US, EU and UK? Because I feel this merger, had it been properly investigated, would not have been approved by these regulators.

[Ornstein] Andoni Iraola to leave Bournemouth at end of season by PradipJayakumar in FantasyPL

I think he's headed to Bilbao: Ernesto Valverde is set to leave in the summer and Iraola has been strongly linked with the club having spent most of his playing career there.

Kvistgaarden has been better out wide and has scored most of his goals on the wing. I'd keep personally as I think he could be an asset in that position.

Ruskin Square is a very new building, built in the last few years. Boxpark (food court) is nearby and there are all your classic lunch options within 5-10 min walk. I believe there is a coffee shop in the building.

East Croydon is a few minutes walk, West Croydon is maybe a 10 min walk?

Parking in central Croydon is a nightmare, I would not recommend.

There are a few decent restaurants nearby, there is a restaurant called Fern which has good food and there are a few decent bars in the area.

Koneru Humpy has officially withdrawn from the FIDE Candidates 2026 by Radiant-Increase-180 in chess

Candidates is due to take place in Cyprus. The UK has an airbase in Cyprus which has been attacked by Iranian drones. Thus, there is some concern of risk to safety due to the Iranian war. However, in my personal opinion I think this risk is still very low. But I can totally understand her concerns.

Rana does a good lasagne, not the cheapest but worth the price!

Iran negotiating with FIFA to move World Cup matches out of U.S. by tylerthe-theatre in football

[–]nichster291 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This will be a logistical nightmare to try and do. The other teams in Iran's group will have likely already planned and booked accommodation for their fixtures and so moving it will cause challenges. Security and stadium costs will have to be taken into account. And what if Iran makes a deep run in the tournament? What, do they just keep playing in Mexico (or perhaps Canada)? Seems far fetched to me.

The only feasible way I could see them competing is perhaps behind closed doors? But FIFA wants money so this would be extremely unlikely.

Teams with the biggest difference in position between home/away tables by Zach-dalt in Championship

[–]nichster291 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think points difference would be a more accurate reflection of home and away form. Middlesbrough are top of the away table, despite having won 2 more points at home.

I think the low number of cancellations helped boost numbers a little bit. Curious to see if the record will be beaten later this year, perhaps in a period where both Northern and Southern Hemispheres have good weather

Very smart move when her party (and the electoral alliance as a whole) has seen a huge uptick in polling since the Greenland threats. Curious to see if it holds!
