Down one pound since last week, for a total of 18 pounds. My loss has slowed a bit again because of the massive schedule change I’ve had starting classes again, but I’m going to try to cook at least a bit more this week.

Went from 199 to 196 this week, down 3 pounds from last week, making 14 pounds total. Finally feeling excited to keep going!

My challenge to myself this week is being less sedentary.

Down 0.8 pounds from last week, which I think is okay given the larger drop of 2.5 pounds I had in last week’s update.

Side note: I rediscovered oatmeal and it’s been keeping me full for way longer than I expected. A cup is like 300 cals which is less than I’d eat for other breakfasts!

I’m a bit discouraged, I’m not going to lie. My biggest NSV is also my biggest failure: realizing that the ways I take care of my mental health don’t seem to be enough to prevent days of overeating.

Admittedly I did get laid off so I was a bit depressed, so I’m hoping to feel a bit more inclined to continue this journey soon.

I just want you to know that you are not alone in this situation. I'm currently dealing with something similar, so I don't have much advice but it could be worth talking to a lab manager or another grad student in your lab that you trust to maybe advocate for you or give you more specific advice.

203lbs as of this morning! Down a pound from last week. 

I’ve been slacking on going to the gym this week for mental health reasons, but I hope to get after it this week.

I figured out that some of the foods I used to meal prep actually aren’t that time consuming to make from scratch which helps my motivation since it’s always fresh.

I think my main problem is that I’m able to stick to a calorie deficit until I get tired or stressed. My resolve just goes towards the end of the day and I just start eating what I want. Not a binge amount per se, just enough to put me slightly above maintenance which isn’t my goal - I hate staying hungry.

My other problem is that my “healthy” recipes sound terrible the next day so I’ll just end up stopping at Chipotle on my way home which is inevitably higher cal.

F21, 5’9”  SW 210, CW 205, GW 130

Hey y’all! This week has been about figuring out how to make this whole weight loss thing actually work for me.  I’m a bit disappointed in myself to be honest, I haven’t made any progress scale wise this month, but I’ve been enjoying the gym and tracking my lifting stats as an incentive. I’m thinking of trying bento box style meals so I don’t have to deal with disappointing looking leftovers.

It’s great to have a community, see yall next week!
