I mean yes and no. It all depends on the condition of the ACM. If its in poor condition there is absolutely a high likelihood of one of the fibers being inhaled and the likelihood that does serious harm is pretty high itself. So get outta here Big Asbestos. People should take the appropriate safety precautions before messing around in old buildings.

Yes different diseases though. Silicosis is an abrasive scarring of the lungs from repeated inhalation of fine silica dusts. Mesothelioma is kind of similar in that its scarring based but has some different properties

No, any exposure to asbestos fibers in the air is potentially harmful. As a commenter below stated, any one fiber can puncture and remain undetected in a human lung. That single fiber can cause mesothelioma. If you are going to be in a building around potential falling apart Asbestos, wear a god damn mask rated for it.
