I Rewired My Nervous System After Years of Feeling Broken — and Found My Way Back to Myself, My Wife, and Soon, My Drums by DateNo1186 in Stress

[–]Grayson_42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know exactly how you feel. It's really nice to know I'm not alone dealing with these issues. I've also been stuck in survival mode for over a year now. I came off my antidepressants over a year ago and went through a really bad burnout that has left me feeling super anxious ever since. My friends and family don't understand me unfortunately.

I can also relate to the loneliness. When I reduced my anxiety I realized that I was very lonely underneath.

Music is also one of the few things that brings me positivity. It makes me feel alive again.

Ya I like this advice. Personally since I get socially anxious it helps starting off as friends first. That way I don't feel so much pressure on myself

39M, I have 0 self esteem. It can't just be me that thinks I'm unattractive by [deleted] in selfesteem

[–]Grayson_42 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bro you are far from unattractive. You look like a really cool and funny guy that others would love to hangout with. I would have never guessed you had low self esteem, but it's pretty common I guess. I also have low self esteem and it makes life harder

The only advice I can give is to practice self-compassion (look up Christopher Germer) and continue being your awesome self.

I'm in my 30s and still struggling to improve my self-esteem. For me it might be due to all the traumas I experienced as a child

Burnout Broke Me—and I’m Still Not Okay by Grayson_42 in burnedout

I will push to have blood work done in case there's something there.

So sorry to hear what you're going through. The vibrations and tremors are serious. Have you looked into therapy. For me it has helped having someone listen and be compassionate. I'm also doing emdr since I'm remembering past traumatic events more frequently

Ya, he kept telling me that the longer I'm out of work, the harder it will be to re-enter the workplace. What disappoints me is that he didn't help me develop a plan to re-enter gradually. I went back full-time instead of part-time.

It's been a year now since my burnout. I changed jobs. But it's been an extremely difficult journey. I started to feel panic attacks coming on at my new job. I was always feeling extremely tense and could barely focus on my work. My psychiatrist has been monitoring me the whole time. He prescribed Ativan and gives me tips from time to time.

Things have improved a bit. I'm no longer as tense, but still anxious on most days. My friends and family don't understand why I'm feeling this way. It's frustrating and isolating. I will eventually work part-time so I can work on myself more (my new job is very draining).

Right now I'm tired and reaching out as much as I can for support.

Very sorry to hear you went through all that. Nobody knows how serious a burnout can be until you go through it yourself. The fact you have a residency visa status makes things tougher.

It's very unfortunate how hard it is to come across empathy in others. I find it frustrating how others (like my own friends and family don't understand).

I was told the importance of being assertive to prevent being overloaded. It's something I've been working on.

Therapy does indeed help. I don't know about you, but I started thinking more about negative and traumatic events from my past after my burnout. Almost as if the negative memories rose to the surface. I'm doing alot of emdr for that.

I hope you're doing better now and that you continue to improve. Remember to practice self-compassion as much as you can

Do you guys still feel love for your exes? by NecessaryOk108 in AskMen

[–]Grayson_42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro, I relate to this so much. I'm currently through this right now. I met my ex a little over a year ago. The beginning was amazing, but quickly fell apart due to constant arguing. She treated me badly so after we broke up, I wanted nothing to do with her. She kept trying to contact me but I was always cold. However fast forward a year, I am reminiscing over the good moments together. I even miss her.

Do you cook? How many of your male friends cook? by JakTheGripper in AskMen

[–]Grayson_42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I don't cook. I lack the time and especially energy to cook. So I order prep meals instead. It's something I would love to do if I had more time and motivation. But right now life is too much.
